Heya! Over the past weeks i’ve already teased this one a bit and due to lots of lovely responses I really wanted to share this one with you! Following up on last years self release of ‘Skandi’, this start of the winter I’ve done a flip of Fergies ‘Glamorous’. Hopefully this one will warm up the cold rainy days and bring some glamour to your day :)

Due to the tragedies unfolding in Gaza I’ve decided to donate the income for the track the first year to Artsen zonder Grenzen (Doctors without Borders). It's been difficult to watch the situation develop and I hope this is a good way of using my creative output to do something for the people in need. Stolen Velour (@stolenvelour) returns to Kindergarten Records with another confident display of intricate sound design and mind-bending rhythmic fluidity. In equal parts an embrace of silliness on the dancefloor and a serious piece of floor-shaking heft, Jasper builds on the palette of his last EP with the label, Onyx, and elevates Stolen Velour’s sound to new heights. A pair of label regulars switch up the flavours on the remixes. Sobolik (@tomsobolikmusic) strips back the opener to inject some space and a touch of dub, whereas Despina’s (@despinadespina) take on ‘I Know, I know’ tames some of the og’s wilder impulses to laser-in on strobing breaks and a wobbly low-end groove.

Info: In a new release series, Defrostatica is thrilled to showcase up-and-coming producers who are inspired by jungle, footwork, juke, and techno to create their own unique sound for the club at 160 beats per minute.

Portway & Slinki's 'Move' builds on a Latin piano before turning into a monster percussion beat, only to change again on the second drop as a big synth releases the tension.

On 'Madder', the Danish duo Hone Sound skillfully weaves atmospheric pads into a perfectly rolling jungle breakbeat.

Juke Joint co-founder Team GB from Manchester flexes his production skills around the serious call to 'Jiggle Like Jello' on a jacked bass line.

For EYX020 New York City-based artist No Sir returns with a three-tracker titled Radial Burn, set to be released on November 22, 2024, via Turin's forward-thinking label Early Reflex. Known for pushing the boundaries of rhythmic and atmospheric experimentation, No Sir delivers a project that deepens their exploration of the tension between double and half-time beats, layering sinuous percussion with moments of intense noise and breath.
In Radial Burn, No Sir seeks to explore how subtle shifts in rhythmic stress can alter the listener's physical response to the music. Through intricate, often elusive patterns, the EP finds unique spaces within the beat, producing a heady blend of club energy and introspective sound design.
The title track “Radial Burn” sets the tone for the EP with relentless, driving percussion that continually shifts between double and half-time, pulling the listener into a dynamic, almost vertiginous space. The push-pull effect of rhythmic stress brings both tension and release, with each percussive layer adding depth to the track's intensity.
“Soft Tissue” follows next like a sonic exploration of fragility and pressure. Fusing erratic, snapping rhythms with expansive atmospheric textures, this track finds moments of air within the chaos. It evokes a tactile, bodily experience—like sound massaging against skin, sometimes delicately, sometimes forcefully.
Closing the EP, “Layer 03” draws from Drum 'n Bass, UK Garage, and Dubstep, blending heavy basslines and syncopated beats with a modern edge. It weaves together intricate grooves and deep bass, offering a fresh take on bass-infused and underground sounds.

“In working on this EP, I was drawn to the push and pull between double and half-time, finding pockets of air and atmosphere amidst layers of sinuous percussion and noise. By shifting the stress of the beat within each track, I aimed to explore how subtle changes in rhythmic emphasis can impact the human body.”
