For the next Far Blue concept, @aspetuck has taken the time to put together his perception of Far Blue. Apart from being a very kind person, he is also a very talented producer and DJ who puts lots of emotion into his productions and mixes - and this mix is no different.

"This set was recorded in my living room in upstate New York on a snowy Saturday in March with two Pioneer CDJ 2000NXSs & an Allen & Heath Xone:92 mixer. After making pancakes for the kiddo, I jumped right into it. I got back from a couple of days in London at the end of February which has me feeling particularly inspired & focused. DJing and making music has always been a really important form of creative relief for me - being a parent & stay at home dad, it feels more important than ever these days so I was really excited to record this one. I decided to play a bunch of unreleased Aspetuck tunes in addition to a bunch of stuff that I'm really into right now."

Born & bred in Melbourne, Dawn Again has spent time living in New York, and traveled through Europe & Asia. Dawn Again has always focused heavily on production and proudly sports a slew of records on his own label Enjoyment Division, Hell Yeah Recordings, Love Above Records, Houseworx, Rothmans, Tusk Wax, Blind Jacks Journey, Ombra, Wonder Stories, Roam Recordings, El Diablo Social Club. 

"This mix was recorded at one of my favourite bars, High Note. They have an amazing sound system and gorgeous Condesa “Carmen” mixer. It’s an hour excerpt from a 6 hour bar set. I wanted to put together a bunch of organic sounding downtempo tunes that were smattered with some balearic dust. Mostly new stuff that I’ve found in the last year or so. A couple favourite tracks. I finish with Leggo Beast - One Size Fits All, which is just a ripping good downtempo groover. Towards the end I chucked in one of my own tracks “A Day In The Life Of Pond Algae” that is coming out on Hell Yeah recordings soon!"

In such strange and unpredictable times (soz) it's always so nice to have something you can actually be sure of. This is one of those things; an illustrious composition of beautifully arranged soundscapes from the incredibly talented mind of Gallery B aka Emma Stevenson. As the sun will rise, Emma will deliver. #52 hits 4 hours of absolute serendipitous bliss, from one of the best. I'll back Emma until the end of time, (I’m hopeful that she will DJ at my funeral). I’ve been a huge fan of hers since I saw her play at Cool Room (big nod) many years ago. In the time since, she has taken some giant steps forward, and Melbourne now knows her as its own. Emma began concentrating on her own production of dreamy ambient audible artworks after donning the Gallery B moniker, she already has a few releases under her belt, and plenty in the works. I for one will be paying close attention to what comes next. 

What Emma has always been good at is telling stories through sound because she’s perfected the art of the ‘build’; her art is meticulously constructed piece by piece into a narrative that transports you on a luxury flight, table service, and temple rubs included. The listener reaches new heights, soaring between thermals, dipping and diving in all directions, as one begins to appreciate the depth of knowledge and respect that Emma has for music and the emotions it can provoke. There is something special about every song selected, and the enjoyment of each is immersive. Completely un-rushed and beautifully patient, the selections progress almost naturally, starting at left field experimental, and slowly traversing through ambient pop, industrial folk, digital dub, couch gaze, 16bit R’n’B, it's all there, perfectly wrapped up into one the best resume’s I’ve heard to date. It's a peaceful journey that’s already bought me so much joy in these crazy times (soz). Perfect for a spring afternoon in the backyard under the shade of your favourite tree. Now open your ears and let this ground you. It will serve you well many times over in the future.
