Q. How would you describe yourself?
A. I'd like to think I'm a music enthusiast who enjoys diving deep into the early "golden" years of dance (and chillout) music.

Q. How long have you been a part of the Melbourne music scene? How did you get involved?
A. I've been playing records around town since about 2006, and started running some parties with a few friends shortly after that, back when electro house and fluro tees were the hottest ticket in town ;) A few years later me and my friend Andy Hart discovered there was this whole other deeper side that we absolutely loved and started the MDC series. Somehow it's still going after all these years!

Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. After being locked down for most of this year, I wanted to channel the kind of vibes I would go for if given an opening set outdoors somewhere on a sunny afternoon among friends (hoping this won't be too far away now as things start to open up here!). The mix starts out slow and soulful and gradually picks up the pace with lots of 90s chillers and summery house nostalgia to get you in the mood. Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy!

As our trajectory accelerates head-first into another year, it’s more important than ever to slow down and catch your breath. As automatic as that may seem, I’m talking more about the metaphorical meaning of breath aka a self-imposed moment of peace and quiet. To comprehend such a thing nowadays it’s crucial to have a soundtrack, and this episode of FHUO from the Daisy Records crew is the perfect accompaniment to refill the oxygen tanks. Our aim was to bring some light towards the end of an intense 24 hour club weekend. We both needed it ourselves, and the world could use some too.

Thank you friends, lovers, Horst team, crew, and everyone else who made us feel so comfortable and loved in that beautiful Rain Room! One we won’t be forgetting anytime soon. 😊

To the dedicated few and the newly dedicated, this is a celebration laced with appreciation. The cause for this - we’ve reached a modern-day milestone. We’ve made it to 30 (which is a total of about 3 in podcast years). Honestly, I never thought I'd make it to 30, but I soon came to realise how much good music is out there, and how I should use my powers for good rather evil, so here we are. 

For this momentous occasion, we have a very fitting transmission. Something that he and I have been working towards for the last two years. The man responsible for an audible gift from the gods is none other than Andy Hart himself, aka the slug face millionaire aka choices from the lake aka undies. I call Andy not only a good friend but also a good inspiration, a good breath of fresh country air, a good dose of realism and just a flat out good person. I’ve lived with him, I’ve traveled with him and I’ve shared more than a towel with him. I can comfortably say that Andy will be at my wedding, my funeral and everything in between. 

This mix is the perfect summary of the journey so far. I'd like to think we’ve explored quite a lot over the last couple of years, and I'd also like to think that there’s so much more out there. This perfectly woven galactic tapestry transcends every aspect that you think you know about most things and rewrites the rest. The culmination of many years of putting tracks aside has paid off immensely. The thought and the planning behind this mix actually baffle’s me. It’s the perfect narrative without the narrative, a story without words, a tale of triumph. I may sound a bit dramatic but you obviously haven’t listened to it yet. Just shy of 4 hours, this is the perfect soundtrack to your life in general. It transcends not only stages of the day but also stages of your mind. I'm yet to find the perfect moment/space to listen to it but I think a long drive back from a really good holiday would fit perfectly - or just a cruisey Sunday spring afternoon at home.

Good day / G’day / I hope this next mix finds you well / how about some precedented times for once! Interpret that as you please. Whatever your poison, it’s time for another dose and the doctor is in. It's with an absolutely full heart that I present to you the next chapter in the ‘stay the fuck home experience’. Our esteemed guest is none other than Mr. Naarm Deepcast himself, Myles Mac, aka a tall glass of water aka captain cloud aka Mt. Killa’dancefloor’o. Literally one of the OG immovable chess pieces of the Melbourne scene. Responsible for bringing Oz music up to date and into the future through the Melbourne Deepcast // TIP!! (for which I owe a lot to in many ways) and for bringing the world to us through a multitude of platforms and ideals thrown together across nearly every venue in Melbourne. For all his merits he’s still remained a very humble dude, he has all the time in the world for others and their harebrained schemes. Myles will gladly lend his ear to munted punter’s telling the same story for the third time, just a bloody good all-rounder, you could take him from kick-ons straight to meet the parents and they would best mates within the hour. I've had the pleasure of knowing Myles for about ten years now and seeing what he’s done and how he’s done it has been a pleasure to watch, he’s paved the way for many a DJ, myself included.

So, you’d think with all this experience in Dj’ing, running parties, and curating one of the better mix series in this audible world that he’d be able to produce a stunning mix that really highlights his knowledge of all of the above and the human psyche in response to those avenues, well, you’re correct. The mix is absolutely sublime. I couldn’t think of a better soundtrack for the introduction to hot weather, pool hangs, spritz’, warm nights, long drives down the beach (which we can now do), and whatever else you associate with summer. The mix itself is an audio-guided tour through a perfectly curated exhibition, gently carrying through from room to room, subtle nods in every direction but with subconscious overarching narrative tying everything together. This is achieved through the lost art of DJ’ing. Scientists say that these “disk jockey’s” would spend years searching for special types of recorded music for which they would then “blend” together on some “banging sound system” to the public to create moments of pure euphoria. This mix will end up in museums as a perfect example of that so people can really understand how their parents met. Anyway, the mix is laden with nostalgia, a 90’s head wet dream, continuously cementing a smile on your face and the overwhelming urge to nod your head. Pack some lunch for this trip, an extended hike through the mind of Myles Mac. This is your cue to stop reading and press play.

Just a quick tip’o’the’hat to Melbourne Deepcast, we, the people would like to thank you for the years of service. (Hopefully, I can finally submit something I’m happy with, in the next 100 years)
