Making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Reading Souls' by Madloch and Matias Vila is Forerunners. Famed for releases via Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Antrim's Or Two Strangers and UK behemoth Anjunadeep, Brenden LaBonte a.k.a. Forerunners has earned a legion of fans for his progressive creations. Based in Arizona, the US artist is choosey in his projects and focuses on the finer details when it comes to production, making for immersive, slow building tracks that tantalize your mind, heart and feet. Having appeared on label affiliate 3rd Avenue in January of last year, Forerunners now steps up to parent label Sound Avenue with a rousing rendition of 'Reading Souls'. Taking square aim at the dance floor, the American artist works devilish effects and crunchy rhythms over a full, rolling groove and dynamic percussive arrangements. Indistinct vocals and airy phrasing add depth and mystery as momentum builds across the first act, perfectly shifting energy into a break of tense atmospherics and a heady final movement.

@onedotsixtwo are excited to welcome back US legend Forerunners to the label for his third release with us, entitled 'The Watchers'.

Much admired across the progressive house spectrum and with an enviable catalogue of releases on numerous leading labels like Anjunadeep, Pure Progressive and Sudbeat, The Watchers definitely shows no slipping of the Forerunners gold standard. Brenden delivers a beautiful array of subtly blended melodies and effects, that are perfectly arranged over a meticulously crafted drafted drum pattern and unmistakable bass-line which solidify his incredible sound.

On remix duties we enlisted the super talented and good friend of the label John Cosani, who was the star of the show for our 50th release back in 2021. John's remix is an absolute power house of percussion and drive added to the bottom end and mid sections, whilst continuing to retain the essence and spirit of the original.

It is just weeks after my first daughter is born and I am flying to the other side of the world, far away from the Arizona desert in the midst of summer, to a Dutch seaside town where the sun does not set until late into the evening at this time of year. I am not doing it for the money or the thrill of the gig. I can't stand long flights, and especially to be away from my family. I am doing this so that my newborn daughter will know one day what it means to chase your dreams despite the obstacles we all face. They are all too easy to list and use as reasons to say "not this time". 

Fast forward through a 12 hour layover in NYC and the onset of debilitating jetlag and it's lunchtime before I am to show up to play my music on the beach. The promoter rings my agent and I'm being told I can go for a full 3 hours rather than the original 1 hour that was planned...something of a surprise for a progressive artist crashing a mostly uplifting trance festival! I take a moment to consider the offer and then accept...playing for a full 3 hours at a summer festival packed with so many artists back to back may never happen again in my career. It becomes another experience to cross off the bucket list and tell my daughter about one day. 

This recording is of the second half of my set, admittedly full of my own productions and collaborations, maybe to a fault. But sometimes the setting for your gig absolutely informs how and what you are going to play. This was a festival on a beach alongside the North Sea during the endless days of the Dutch summer. The weather was perfect and I was homesick for my beautiful wife and daughter, yet surrounded by some of the friendliest music fans in the world. Most were there to see their favorite trance star, but some of them stayed around to hear what this progressive artist who had flown all the way from Arizona had to offer. The music was lighter and happier, and the experience was amazing. Thank you

The eponymous "Irreversible" starts with a deep mesmerizing bassline, adding layers to build a hypnotic track interspersed with oriental influenced melodic hooks, vocal shouts and stabs.

Forerunners, one of Lowbit's best selling artists in 2019, returns to Lowbit with his interpretation of "Irreversible". With a constantly evolving arrangement on the deeper side of progressive house, this is a proper 6 am track choice.

Brenden LaBonte a.k.a. Forerunners has released a steady stream of immersive and unique tracks over the past 15 years, with remixes and originals on Pure Progressive, Sudbeat, Anjunadeep, Onedotsixtwo, Silk Music, Perfecto, and others. He has worked with the likes of Solarstone, Hybrid, Hernan Cattaneo, Tripswitch, and many others. Something of an enigma as an artist, this Arizona based producer is definitely in the ‘quality over quantity’ camp. Forerunners music is about the slow build, the journey, where filters ebb and flow, layers creep to the front then withdraw, where the percussion is hypnotic and the synths repetitive, and the melody draws the listener in with its subtlety, rather than a crass fanfare. It’s either early night material for trance rooms, or peak time material for intelligent progressive floors – spun by DJs the likes of Guy J to Paul van Dyk and everyone in between. This is what electronic dance music is all about.
