Premiere: Mitch de Klein - Night Owl [Purified Records]

Joris Voorn's Spectrum imprint continues its mission to spotlight visionary electronic music with the debut of Dutch producer Tim van Werd, who delivers a cinematic two-track EP: 'View From Space.' A release inspired by the awe of the cosmos and the humbling perspective of orbit. 

The title track, 'View From Space,' draws on the powerful words of Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, whose reflections from orbit sparked the theme of the EP. Glistening chimes and warm, enveloping rhythms capture the beauty of Earth as seen from above, a fragile, shared home suspended in the blackness of space. It's a meditation on unity, wonder, and the stillness of perspective.

The journey continues with 'Jupiter', a bold musical leap into the outer solar system. Swirling pads and expansive textures echo the eternal storms and timeless energy of the gas giant. It's a piece that explores scale, a soundtrack to drifting past something ancient, unknowable, and infinitely vast. A reminder of our place in the universe, and the power of sound to express the inexpressible. 

With View From Space, Tim van Werd delivers an emotionally resonant debut. A perfect fit for the Spectrum ethos of music with meaning, mood, and magnitude.

Jamie Baggotts is back again on label, this time with an old-school piece of progressive trance music called Neverland! Reminiscent of classic Fire & Ice stuff, this track teleports you in early 00's straight away, thanks to those nostalgic sounding layers of synths and rolling bassline combined with a brilliant main theme that starts from the breakdown, what a tune! We invited two newcomers of label to remix such beauty but these producers are well-known in community for their trademark sound! F-Act aka resident of friendly JOOF and Bonzai labels delivered a luscious progressive trance interpretation, adding his firm synths and elements, this one is such a journey, great job by Bruno! Rise and Fall aka russian mastermind of dark progressive sounds converted original into something even more deeper and serious, definitely a peak-time track in a set of any progressive guru, well done by Anton!

Wow, hadn't realised what a journey SoundCloud would take me on.  After many years of passive listening to music I've dieted on a variety of tastes. My appetite for new sounds is undiminished and SC provides plenty of food. I am not a musician and have only recently started to listen positively to the sounds. My early years began listening to music from ABC, The Beatles, The Carpenters Dire Straits Eagles Fleetwood Mac Genesis Elton John Led Zeppelin Gilbert O'Sullivan Rod Stewart Supertramp Tangerine Dream Vangelis The Who and many more.
