I'm really proud of this one. I really enjoyed collaborating with CYCLOSA, getting out of my comfort zone, and just creating what sounded good. 

We spent weeks messing around with different concepts, trying to figure out what genre the song should be. Future, rock influenced dubstep, chillout, and much more were all put on the table, but nothing stuck. Eventually, we both realized the genre wasn't important. The only thing that matters is that it sounds good. Composing a song to the "guidelines" of a genre just so you can stick a soundcloud hashtag on top of the song doesn't allow you to fully express yourself. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it's fun to write to the unofficial genre guidelines. However, the next time you hit a creative block in the middle of a song, make sure the boundaries of a genre aren't getting in your way.

I'm pleased to announce my next song, "Departure (feat. Xephyr)" will be released with @refractedrecords on June 26th, 2017. This acoustic arrangement of Departure is based around the idea of contrast, a theme that has appeared in my music for quite sometime. The first half of the song was written in a major key (Eb) while the second half is in a minor key (Cm). This contrast of happy and sad fits perfectly with the feeling represented by Departure. I'm unbelievably excited to share it with you in the coming days.

People express their feelings in different ways. For me, I've always been able to find tranquility in music. Music is a place I can turn to when I need to escape the craziness of the world around me. It has never failed to let me express feelings that I cannot put into words.

I've tried to write a few of my favorite, extremely emotional chord progressions into one of my songs for well over a year now, but have never been able to do it. Last night, I sat down and just decided to combine them all, whenever and wherever it felt right. No prior practicing, no thought put into the key signature, no mapped out structure, just pure impulsiveness and emotion. This track is a reaction to the significant changes my life has seen in the last month. I was able to shut myself in my room and play my heart out. No editing, no repitching, no cleaning up. Pure, raw emotion.
