On March 14th, our collective hosted a virtual room at COMMON MULTIVERSE INITIATIVE - a week-long interactive festival curated by Currents.

With a musical career spanning over 20 years, Phoenix-based artist @terminal11 has made sure to continuously adapt to the latest in sound design and technology. Emerging from the pinnacle of the early breakcore movement, his pioneering sound has found a home on legendary experimental labels such as Hymen, Opal Tapes, and Love Love Records. Tumbling down the rabbit hole in my life I happened to step in a land with no time and located nowhere, where 'I' melts with 'It', and all separation dissolves into immediate experience of oneness. The adventure was so great and so humbling for the little human who I usually am that I had to bring something back to honor what I witnessed. So I started working on it. I drew, I wrote music, and I also wrote words. And our world seems to be comprehensible thanks to these words, but what I learned is that this is just a spell, cast upon our minds by grammar and definitions. Never again I shall be misled by the false sense of comfort of linguistic habits! I couldn't express my self without transcending such barriers! So I started learning new languages, verbal languages like French and Spanish, but this was also applicable to music and visual arts. And with work and practice I began developing my own language, so to make justice to the depths and richness of my own experience.
The following write up is a story set in that same spaceless and timeless place, a travel through dreamy realities and lucid dreams. I don't think it falls under any literary genre, I like to just call it "a composition of words", but basically you have to read it like a poetry without much metrics. 
I translated it in 4 languages, but don't be misled. What you'll find in it is not the language you know, but my original take on it in order to talk about that something which can't be named:

Producing music has always been a therapeutic process for me. It's one of the only things in my life that I can sit down for hours at a time, completely focus, and reach a state of tranquility. Over the last few years whenever I have been experiencing an emotional state, the genre of what I describe as "lush 85" has been there to serve as an outlet to express the turmoil I'd been experiencing. Directing this energy into music has been extremely powerful. By expressing our emotions through the arts we can transform our trauma into something extraordinary. If we don't acknowledge our emotions and find healthy ways to process them we miss an amazing opportunity to evolve and align with our higher self. 

Although these tracks represent the darker times in the last two years I was experiencing heartache, suffering, and betrayal, the EP as a whole carries a sense of hope and wonder. While working on this type of music I often questioned why during such dark times I always found myself lifting up towards the light vs remaining in darkness. I think this is because I've always felt that every dark moment has something to teach us. Either we can let these moments consume us or we let them guide us to our inner truths to reveal our true selves. 

The dark soundscapes of dubstep and halftime are very important to me and will always have a place in my musical expression but they are an intended action with intention. My intention when writing this music in particular, is not to fight the darkness with more darkness but to shine a light and open myself the unknown. Music can act as a daily journal, allowing you to get your thoughts out of your head and onto paper, allowing for mental clarity and understanding.   

Most of my releases are a collection of tracks meant for DJs and big soundsystems. This release is much more personal. I hope you enjoy listening to start to finish as it carries you through a "Moment In Time" - Inspired by the likes Margari's Kid, Stay, Kid Drama, Amit, Hidden Turn, Om Unit, Tycho and Synkro, it blends various sounds, influences and my own various styles into what I believe to be my most coherent work to date. 

This release marks the end of a big chapter in my life. It serves as a reminder to everything that I have experienced, an anthology to honor my past with gratitude, and move forward. The music and growth I have experienced are a gift. I now graciously share this gift with you.

Finding the way back to our Footwork Jungle and darker roots but with an interesting twist, we’d like to welcome Defizit & BassInfected, to the True Color family by presenting their debut release and the last one of the year for the label. This very well-produced single includes two powerful tracks that resembles the True Color vibe from its origins. “Hangout” is the first track, dark-jungly vibes and a sick bassline that makes it one for the dancefloors. “Dimness” a more broken-structured tune which perfectly represents the True Color sound.
