This is another experimental sonic collage for noisevember.  I used an M-Audio "Audio Buddy" preamp to put a mic through the audio input on the Moog Matriarch.  The delay did interesting things to my voice.  I even put this "hot mic" signal through the FM input so I could frequency-modulate an oscillator using my voice!  And of course I had to add lots more noisy bits and bobs to round out the sound of the track.  

Noisevember #2:  microphone test

This is my first ever submission to the Disquiet Junto project.  The prompt this week was to record the sound of ice in a glass, and make some kind of music with it.  I limited myself to the ice / glass / silverware recordings I'd made that afternoon, the Moog Matriarch, and the non-instrument effects I currently have in Reaper.  I have a very resonant crystal wine glass that plays an almost perfect E4 when flicked.  Rather than learn to use a new sampler, and then possibly become bogged down in the weeds, I used Reaper's own transpose function, mapped to Shift+9 and Shift+0 on the special OSARA keymap to create the melody from repeatedly pasting the original item.  The background pad is just regular square / sawtooth waves put through the incredibly large Galactic reverb from AirWindows.  I've been making heavy use of that one lately.  And of course there had to be a bridge with a synth lead.  I learned to write mix automation using my new control surface to finish parts of this track.  I feel there's more I could do with this track but it would definitely take longer, and when I become distracted by some other idea, I might not finish this one.  So, thanks to this project, I have to make peace with letting something a little less than perfect make its way out the door and onto the inter-webbs!
