Of the brave folks that live there to stop the giant hole
To save the ancient forest from the cruel chainsaw blow
The trees are full of life but they want to cut them low

Soon new treehouses were built and the cops again come / to evict them but the struggle goes on
Banners rise up, shining in the sun / and in the night pixies make mischief and run!
Since so long the forest has been shrinking every year / I can’t disguise the sorrow in my tears
I can’t hide the rage that I feel / They’re coming back to cut again it’s time to act here
and now it’s the time to come / in numbers to Hambach forest and stay strong as one

This song was written for UPIII, who at the time was sitting a 9 month jail sentence for being present at Hambach Forest in Germany. There is an occupation to protect the forest against being felled for open cast brown coal mining.

The powers that seek to break our spirit, to crush us under a fist of fear and apathy, and then as if that wasn't enough, even to lock us up and take us to court for the cheek of having stood up to their blows.
And maybe if the message can spread enough, we can put a stop to this dehumanizing situation, and find solutions that honour life instead of this divide and conquer colonialist grab-what-you-can-get mindset.
