This release refers retrospectively to the "Wanderings" album from 2015, which was also very much sought after because of its limited collector's box. More precisely, this album is again about two tracks that left a lasting impression on our hearts.

It all started when Nemo had already edited and changed his track "Abenddämmerung" ('Dusk') several times for live sets. Already during the production for the "Wanderings" album he noticed that this piece exudes a kind of melancholy, solace and wellbeing that can only be explained by the elements used, the warmth of the sound structure and the childhood memories that this piece connects with those places that he had in mind, so that this song has become one of his most important so far, which he is still so fascinated by and which holds him in its grip him until today. This resulted in the desire to re-release this piece in multiple variants in a separate release on tape.

Since Jaymon had also published his track "Morgengrauen" ('Dawn') as a counterpart on the same album, the idea of producing both pieces on a new cassette quickly developed and he immediately started working on it as well to work up in different versions. Nemo & Jaymon - Morgengrauen / Abenddämmerung (OUT NOW)

A short teaser of what is coming in our next live set, scheduled for Aug 8th 2024 in Dresden.

This time it will be a little different, as the audience will be part of the whole live situation. We will play a full-scale ambient set full of textures, field recordings, pads, drones, minimalized album tracks and rare drops of beats while the brilliant voice of Jeremy Clarke will glide through the set.  And while we will do so, the guests will practice yoga and meditation in the form of guided movements, while our motion picture is being streamed in parallel in the background.

In October 2022, our small net label celebrated its 10th anniversary. On this occasion, the idea arose to honor this with a special physical edition, which we have not yet been able to implement, but which has recently taken on more and more concrete forms. It is the first time in the history of our musical work that we can now offer our first release on vinyl.

Due to various situations since 2022, we have not yet been able to implement this idea, for example because of the Covid-19 period, the involvement in a two-year music documentation project, live sets and also private changes. Nevertheless, the idea of ​​realizing this 10-year anniversary edition in this special format was already clear back then and another 2 years had to pass before we finally got to the point of putting the EP together.

Due to the unique nature of the event, it is only possible to offer an extremely limited edition to make the release a reality. This also means that each individual vinyl is unique, both in terms of the pressing and the technical process, which in turn makes it more expensive than editions with larger numbers, but is therefore explicitly aimed at collectors who associate something very special with this item and who want to feel closer to us in this way. ue to the small edition, we can only offer one copy per customer for sale to give others the same chance.

As far as the vision and idea for this release goes, it was about composing three balanced pieces for vinyl that are well suited to a record, both musically and technically and in keeping with the format. We have a track from Nemo and Jaymon on the A-side and then a track from Nemo & Jaymon on the B-side, so not only has everyone materialized their own individual piece, but there is also a collaborative work in the typical style of both of us, which of course should not be missed.

What we particularly liked for this release and what really fascinated us was the idea of ​​using the German names of the three rudimentary forest categories of the temperate zone that we all know: "Laubwald" (deciduous forest), "Nadelwald" (coniferous forest) and "Mischwald" (mixed forest). Each of us has created his piece of music for the exact type of forest that we believe best matches our own personality, and in fact we feel that Jaymon's personality feels more connected to the deciduous forest, and Nemo's personality identifies more with the coniferous forest, and that the mixed forest combines both worlds perfectly.

Stylistically, we have audibly remained true to our respective musical styles, but the joint track deviates a bit from the usual pattern and, in addition to the use of various vintage music hardware and new field recordings, also combines elements of different musical styles, which ultimately resulted in a song that flows a bit differently than our previous works and albums.

... our newest creation, born from recomposted 'Wanderings' material. It was the only and one spontaneous recording after a 2 hours preparation, and we said "come one, lets make a test recording". the result was mindblowing, suddenly everything seems to have its own moment of flow. We entered the live mix from time to time with just a tiny bit of manual interventions here and there. After the recording was finished, we put it in the same project and overdubbed it and this is the version.

The Nautilus Project - Excursions (full album preview)

The trilogy of Seasons/Wanderings/Landscapes inevitably comes to an end. The openness of this new album in relation to the landscapes around is at the same time a process of letting go and opening up to new things. There are of course melancholy moods and memories that can be found again in the album, but it is not dominated by it and everything is more natural without losing the impressions of depth and the different levels of nature as we normally portray them. The journey begins with the path into the depths of nature, and only the sky is the limit. As far as the eye can see, as far as the feet can carry, a stroll through mountains and valleys, through enchanted forests and overgrown gardens, across fields and meadows, along a lake in the morning all the way back into the forest at night and the distant impressions of the village.As before, this album is supported by our good friends and remix mates Xoki & Hieronymus, who, like Coppice Halifax, have written great new versions of our pieces. We are also very happy to welcome the very talented music artist Submersion as a new guest contributor to our label, whose hypnotic works are also unparalleled in the scene.

The plot of these three albums, which was also strongly characterized by retrospectives and childhood memories of certain places in a narrower context, will flow seamlessly into broader ideas and approaches in the future, which will also grow with the age of our Forest Roots label. With the end of this album, Nemo & Jaymon set out on new areas to explore. In the future there will be one or the other review in the form of a small release, but there are also other albums pending that are just waiting to see the light of day.
