‘ON GROWTH AND FORM’ is a hazy, off-kilter, and melancholic journey through the last three years of my life.

These tracks have been sitting on my laptop in various unfinished/half-mixed/unmastered states for days/weeks/months/years. As another chaotic year draws to a close, I decided to drop the unrealistic standards I set for myself and share them in all their incomplete and muddy glory.

Drawing on a broad range of musical influences from jazz and juke to trip-hop and trap, and inspired by the likes of Trafic Des Airs, Sporting Life, Yanna Monteiro, Babyfather, Eva808, and Denzel Himself (to name a few), each track warps and contorts samples, urban field recordings, and styles to create a series of surreal, effect-laden, and predominately sub-driven collages.

Written almost entirely across the dead of night and well into the early hours (with light, and the sound of birds coming through the window), this release is ultimately about the fleeting relationships you can have with others and the ever-lasting relationship you have with yourself.

Each track represents a dreamy/nightmarish snapshot of a specific time, place, or person of deep personal significance. As I look back, in the end, the catharsis, personal growth, and enjoyment that came from working on and developing these imperfect sounds was worth the painful experiences, tinnitus, and the completely and repeatedly fucked circadian rhythm that came with it.

Best listened to on headphones as you go for a walk or stare pensively out the window of a moving vehicle like you’re in a sad movie.
