The longest running label in drum & bass, Formation and its various side labels have played a role in early careers of many massively influential acts: DJ Hazard, Commix, Nero, The Prototypes, G Dub, John B, Matrix, Twisted Individual, Distorted Minds, the list goes on and on. 
200 releases deep, still firing from all cannons and super-charged with energy and innovation for the next generation, Formation Records is true pillar of the scene and remains so to this day. ERF kicks of his first EP release on Formation Records with a collaboration with the head honcho, DJ SS, for a dark and heavy track. ‘Movement’ sees a combination of layers of bass formed to create a monster that no USB should be without. The intro sees an airy start to ‘Movement’ with the gradual and well thought out build up to the first drop. This is where listeners are first hit with the murky bass that is the feature throughout the track.

The second track of the EP, ‘Secrets’ begins in a mysterious fashion, with chilling vocal sections taken straight from a church choir. When the drop hits, we’re left walking backwards as it comes towards us with full force. The combination of fast drums and slow vocals is a perfect combination. 

‘Brothers’ starts with a much different introduction, calm and relaxing piano brings an essence of love and gratitude to this track. ‘Brothers’ is genuinely a moving track, with touching lyrics throughout. Just listen. 

The third track of the EP ‘Greedy’ sees a return to business with bass that is dirty enough to need a vaccine against. ERF’S use of vocals through out the EP is on point, and he doesn’t let us down in this track either. 

Finally we come to ‘Buried’ the perfect track to finish off this well rounded debut EP from ERF. With a deep rolling bass and throwbacks to the Formation tracks of the past, ‘Buried’ will be coming alive on dance floors in the near future.

Formation head honcho and our very own Azpect bring us the feel good track ‘Feeling Blessed’ with a host of special mixes to accompany. Could this be the perfect drum and bass sound track to a summer of freedom? 

From the start we know ‘Feeling Blessed’ is gunna have us getting our groove on. With uplifting lyrics that set the tone for the track accompanied by rhythmic guitar chords, listeners know that there is sumptuous drop incoming. When the drop does come we’re surrounded by fast drum pattern that continues the positive vibes of the track. Deep bass reminds us of who made this track however. As we continue the vocal bars layed down give an extra lift the track. 

With DJ SS throwing down his own remix of the track, he left his mark on this positive vibes track. Taking it to a darker level, but keeping the essential elements a part of the track, he’s created the perfect symphony of light and dark.
