Kaboom

Not involving a lot of known signatures, I heard where this was going. I wanted raw, slightly elemental, but with a harder kick. Usually I know where, what, and when to implement vocals but this got tricky. Between the various edits of phrases, chops, and loops, I stuck with these. For now.

‘Take It All’ what a blast this song was. From the beat, to the baseline, to the crafted synths I remember sitting in the studio with a certain face on. Vocal from my friend Julia when we were attending college together ended us up in a studio outside of Philly. We recorded the vocals for a different track but thought to take a chop from that and move it here.

‘Sharp’ had an interesting way of coming about. First the beat, then the leads I experimented between the timings. The intro build vocals were from my friend Cassidy and vocals from my friend Ace during the chorus. during separate timings, I got to record different phrases and words from them to mash. For a while waiting to use the one from Ace… “My blade’s still Sharp”

‘Kaboom’ was a song I had under my belt but with a few twists. Originally with different instruments for the melodies I came back a couple months later with new ideas and vocals. Though trying to alter the composition, I couldn’t. Something about how it was organized and pieced made it hit some spots in my mind bringing this to you, for you.

‘I Can Go Anywhere’ what a bundle of textures this was. I had many organic sounds I was looking to release and outward came this. From the low end at the beginning to the slow intimate build, I knew. Ended listening to the second half of the chorus with that bright lead giving it a lot of life. It is the statement I was aiming to get across.

‘Sheer Me’ combining and mixing between melodies was the venture. From coffee shops, to parks, to wherever life takes me, this song came out naturally and fast. In fact, I was sitting on top of a corporate building rooftop when an employee came up to kick me off. Running to the back exit where there was little ground room, I jumped and ate some dirt. Turning around hearing the official say, “Well that’s a Sheer way to get off”. I pondered for a moment.
