Same procedure as last year, our final release of 2023 is dedicated to the label highlights of the past twelve months. Additionally we added a remix that our friend Alfa State, also known as being one half of the Dj project Nature Of Music, did for Tigerskin’s classic ‚Silence of the Lamps’. He recently moved from Toronto to Austin and we’re happy he could take the time to finish this beautiful version for us.

We also wanna take the opportunity to say thank you to everyone involved, especially Stefan Janson aka Jack Jenson, who is one part of Session Two and also responsible for mixing most of our music since many years and of course Peter Gyselaers, who’s running the whole show and making our little label possible in first place.

"Recreated Silence" was originally intended to be Dub Taylor’s second album. Since Alex Krüger had just released his Dub Techno debut, the "Forms And Figures" album on Raum…musik in early 2001 and another LP "Detect" was already planned to be released in autumn that same year via Forcetracks, seven of the album tracks had been put out under the Shura moniker on the "3b" Label in summer 2001. It often happens that an unfamiliar name gets overlooked even though it most likely would have reached a wider audience with a bigger name on it. So unfortunately this happened here too. While the two Dub Taylor albums both became genre classics for many in the Dub House/Dub Techno field, though the tracks of the double vinyl were un-mistakenly unique Dub Taylor trademark beauties of that era, the Shura album stayed completely under the radar.
 
What fascinates us the most is, how much "Recreated Silence" is the perfect connection between "Forms And Figures" and "Detect". There's the more dirty, atmospheric and experimental approach of the debut paired with the tools, loops and the minimalism of the Forcetracks LP. If you ask the man himself, he'll tell you that even after twenty years this still is his favourite of the three Dub Taylor albums in 2001. There was also a fourth, yet unreleased album, recorded in 2001 that goes beyond the Detect-vibe. But that’s a different story and very likely to be released here in the future.
 
For the reissue we've chosen to swap the original vocal version of "Alone" with its formerly unreleased instrumental mix. The Recreated Silence sessions also included three more unknown tracks of which we felt the spooky ambient tune "Shellac" to blend in perfectly with the other seven tunes from the original "3b" release.
 
So here it is again, freshly remastered, dubby, dirty and for the first time available digital. We really hope you like it as much as we do.

With his new EP, Alex Krüger aka Tigerskin continues his journey through wild, versatile and groovy Caribbean moods and beyond pure club functionality. Pink Zebra and Melancoholic both transport proper island vibes with a wink yet are still undoubtful Tigerskin trademark productions. Hirokos Riddim is a wet-sounding homage to the ‘Sleng Teng Riddim,’ a preset groove found in a certain trashy Japanese keyboard of the early 80s that accidentally lead to the invention of Dancehall Music by King Jammy and Wayne Smith in the mid 80s. The EP closes with the majestic rock-ish 33 Travellers, a tune based on a groove of another model of japanese trash keyboards that Alex distorted and recorded through grannies old tube radio when he was a teenager. Positive vibes for y'all!

This time we bring you a remastered version of one of his biggest tracks „This Place Is Empty Without You“ which was released just about ten years ago on Dirt Crew Recordings. We added a formerly unreleased earlier version of the track with a more dubby and even deeper approach, originally called „Montage“. „Clear“ and the darker „Word“ are brand new tracks from Alex‘s lab that are equally beautiful and might kill it at your slow dancing party. Dub Taylor’s ‘Happy Valley EP’ was originally released in 2001 on the 3B label, one of the many exploits of the R.A.N.D. Posse. In recent years the rather rare vinyl copies of this Dub Techno/Dub House classic became more and more sought after and many requests to rerelease it at least in digital form, with modern mastering, came in. So D-Mark, who of course is no other than Jan Gabler, took on the challenge to finally make the three rather experimental sounding gems fit for 2022. We also added an original remix to Happy Valley. Jan aka D-Mark produced it back in 2001,  but unfortunately finished it only a few days too late to be added to the original release and therefor it was sleeping in the vaults for the last 21 years.

We're back with three fun Tigerskin party grooves.
‚La La La Song‘ was a secret weapon for many Dj's when it came out in Spring 2011.
We've seen big smiles on the dance floor to this one. The ‚lyrics‘ just go ‚La La La‘ throughout the track, forming a simple canon. Originally the vocal was just recorded as example for a planned vocalist but Alex liked it so much, he kept it that way.

‚Jankowski‘ came out in 2014 on the short-lived Electronique label from Manchester and unfortunately stayed widely under the radar. It's a nice groover with classical strings and a cool break that leads you directly to a mountain pasture full of cows.

‚Anthem‘ is a brand new club tune that will shake your dance floors with it's super catchy percussion patterns, ducked cymbals and a 303 line straight from the alien ship. The vocal gives you a direct command on what you should be doing when hearing it: DANCING!

One For Kenny is one of those super deep, seemingly endless warmup groovers Tigerskin does best. A hypnotic Acid bass line and a woody drum set form the fundament for dub vocals, noise shots and strange, muted sax sounds that explode in and out of nowhere. Tool à la Chef instead comes out with a more uptempo Garage vibe that might set dance floors on fire. It’s main attraction is a far out female vocal in a totally unidentifiable style and language. Wild stuff!

After their debut "Funkloch Sessions“ on Sofa Tunes and their infamous "Aetherwellen Sessions" earlier this year on Lucidflow, this is the third batch of tunes from Tigerskin & Jack Jenson under their Session Two moniker. The two session pieces of "Sendersuchlauf Sessions" have been condensed to forms of Dark Pop and Electronic Disco with a simple, very danceable groove. As always, their aesthetics are highly driven by voltage controlled radios, Vermona's east German built DRM drum machine from 1987 and the intense use of vocoders, not necessarily for voices but for all kinds of other sounds. Very cool!

Whenever David and Alex met over the last decade, they fantasised on how they will also work on something else than dance music together one day. Now that day has come. The guys started work on ‚Rosemary‘ during the lockdown days. The difficulties of getting together has promoted a unique personal approach for each of the three and produced a highly emotional listening theme that celebrates endings and new beginnings at the same time. Tigerskin returns with a batch of three very dance floor oriented tunes for sweaty disco nights. ‚Beautiful’ spreads positive House vibes with bouncy beats, jazzy chords and space cat chatter. E.L.I. is one for the Hippies, Endless hypnotic synth sequences, didgeridoos, trance is everything! The didgeridoo parts were played by Phil Conyngham for Alex Tigerskin’s personal sample library in 1997 and recorded at his apartment during a summer night till the neighbours started complaining. ‚Sliptease’ is ‚made of ecstasy‘. 80s disco synths, handclaps and hands up, this one is super catchy as well as super discoid. We love those tracks and hope you do too!

For our 50th anniversary we present you three unreleased, hypnotic Acid-versions of PsychoPlasma „Forbidden Planet“, a tune that was recorded in 1994 and came out as 12“ on Tanjobi Records in 1996. We already re-released it on Forms & Figures a few years ago. These other three versions were recorded by Alex Krüger during one night and were based on the same bass- and drum patterns of the PsychoPlasma version from few days earlier that were still in sequencer memory.

At the time Alex was still working with an all analogue setup that was based around Rolands X0X series and cv/gate sequencers, so everything sounds very early 1990s, trippy, raw and was arranged and recorded in real-time on cheap equipment. 

Some inspiration obviously came from Laurent Garnier’s „Fnac“ label, that we know Alex liked a lot at the time.

Tigerskin and vocalist Ernesto Eyong from Cameroon recorded this tune 2003 in Berlin. Actually this was the first of several versions but this is the one. “Na Tondi Wa” is a super catchy, raw, mechanic, simple and most effective Techno House tool that even after a twenty years slumber stands out and will put smiles on peoples faces. It‘s about love, too.

We found this one hidden deep in Alex Krüger’s archives. 3A22, an uptempo Electro Punk tune, was recorded in autumn 1996 with a very small setup including the Korg MS series, a Tr-808 and a Space Echo. It‘s overall vintage sound and several breakdowns with wild modulations of the bass line, it‘s only non-percussion element, still make 3A22 a stand-out tune and very different from Alex‘s other works at the time as well as later.

Already some years ago the idea had come up to re-issue some of Alex Krueger's now sought-after (and increasingly expensive) early works as Korsakow, Dub Taylor, PsychoPlasma and many other alter egos and collaborations as well as pieces from more recent days that, with new technology available, can now be re-mixed and re-mastered to audiophile standards. 

First in a series of restored recordings of classic tracks are two Tigerskin songs from 2008, originally released on Dirt Crew Recordings. His big jam 'Peters Secret Weapon' and the trance-infused 'Platin'. The last track is taken from the second release on the short-lived Monza Records that pretty much disappeared at some point, and unfortunately, took with it this beautiful piece called 'The Beach', one of our personal favourites from Alex's musical output in 2008.

For our second offering here on Forms & Figures we’re heading back 22 years. Released under Alex Krugers early alter ego Korsakow, the original vinyl pressings from 1996 and ’97 are pretty rare and very expensive nowadays, and we‘ve got numerous Dj and fan requests from all over the world who asked to bring them back again into the digital ages. 

‚Abduction‘, released on Dole & Kom’s BCC Records, was the title track to Alex‘s second solo 12“ as Korsakow. It’s a simple yet hypnotic tune with classic 808-driven House groove, that goes on and on. It was rediscovered by Raresh a couple of years ago, who included an edit of it into some of his mixes which finally led to a vinyl re-release on the Malonian label in 2016 including the original version and two of Rareshs edits under his Benon alter ego. Since not everybody owns a record player anymore it‘s about time to also re-release it to the virtual world without ground noise, crackles and guaranteed right speed. 

‚Deep in Space‘, the twelve minute monster dub with a twist, came out in 1997 on Frank Müllers ‚Müller Records‘. It‘s one of those tracks that‘s hard to categorise. Starting with a dub groove garnished with spacey pianos and vocal, bits that fly around the room, it builds up into a proper Techno stomper just to fall apart again into a groovy old school Trance thingy. Whatever you call it, it‘s just beautiful. 

Both ‚Make U Crazy‘ and ‚Deep Love‘ are taken from Alex‘s first  Korsakow Solo-EP ‚Korsakows Modulated Mind‘, released with the USM Label run by the R.A.N.D. posse, today famous for their record pressing plant in Leipzig. As the story goes, back in 1995 Alex was selling a synthesizer that broke during shipment. That incident and it’s pretty long journey to get it back to life and home to it’s new owner again led to his second vinyl release with the crew of music lovers from east germanys beautiful south.

While ‚Make U Crazy‘ is a timeless atmospheric and stripped down Deep Techno tune with rolling 909 drums, chord-melody and noise stabs out of analog synthesizers, ‚Deep Love‘ takes us into the depths of one of his early views on more sample-oriented groovy House, a production genre that, over the following 22 years, Alex always enjoyed to revisit.

These four timeless tunes, juicy mastered by Salz Mastering, will most likely bring back good memories for the aged House & Techno lover and hopefully make new friends with the generations who followed and missed out on these due to their years of unavailability. For our third offering we’ve chosen four Tigerskin classics for you plus one unreleased tune from Alex Krüger’s Archives. 

‘Bordeaux’, from 2008, is a dark and lush space hymn that set the tone for many of Tigerskin’s productions in the years to come. It features acoustic kicks and percussion, sequenced synth toms, subtle pitch changes and has lots of atmosphere which, back then, you‘d rather expected in Drum & Bass. 

‘Silver Sun’, unreleased til today, was taken from the same 2005 recordings session as ‚Neontrance‘. A minimal groove and a ton of bass marry a big room full of breathing acid synths and reverbs while little artefacts fly around like mosquitos.  

‘Neontrance’ is one of Alex‘s widely known ‚acid techno‘ pieces. Rhythmically changing synth-patterns are built around a proper booming Tr-808 until that hi pitched synth line comes in... Simple. Effective. This one’s still killing dance floors all over the world since it‘s 2006 release on Dirt Crew Recordings.

The last two, ‘Suzuki Rider’ and ‘Wanted’ have been originally recorded and released in 2008, also with Dirt Crew, as part of th ‘Peter’s Secret Weapon Ep’ and since we and many others out there always loved both for their beauty and elegance we won‘t want to keep the fresh versions from you any longer.

All five tunes have been beautifully restored again from their original parts by Stefan Janson.

'Detect' was Alex Krüger's second album as Dub Taylor, released in late summer 2001 on Forcetracks. It included the surprise hit from a year earlier 'I Can't (Fall in Love with Another One)'. For this reissue we decided to swap 'Something Sometimes' with the instrumental version. We also added the original full Instrumental version of 'I Can't (Fall in Love With Another One)' and the full thirteen minute version of 'Lush', the original B2 of Forcetracks 21, a fan favourite, as bonus tracks.

This release is somewhat special to us. It was not only Dub Taylor’s debut album on Raum…Musik from the year 2000 but also name-giving inspiration to our little label here.

Apart from the now-classic 15 tracks in between Techno, Dub and Ambient, we added ‚Blueprint‘, the original flip side to Dub Taylor’s first 12“ release on Raum…Musik, a deep beauty, originally recorded in 1997.
We also replaced the short version of ‚Figure Two’ from the album with the original 14:28 minute version formerly only available on vinyl.

We also choose two more pieces from the original sessions to complete the album reissue. They were originally left out but later released under different monikers.

‚Generate Dub’ was out as PHEW! on the short-lived Synaptic Waves in 2001 and ‚Walk On While Suicide‘, a tune that might sound familiar from Richie Hawtin’s ‚Closer To The Edit‘ compilation (there mistakenly labelled as ‚Orph‘), was originally released as Retrotronic on Peter Armsters‘ Punkt Musik label. We hope you enjoy this trip to the past as much as we do.
