Quando se fala em discotecagem de alto nível, a excelência técnica e o repertório arrebatador são os pilares reconhecidamente associados. Claro que essa análise merece ser aprofundada, a começar pelo fato de cada profissional dos toca-discos se situar em um universo musicalmente singular: há quem demonstre um conhecimento abissal em um único estilo (como por exemplo, um grande DJ de Techno), e por outro lado, algumas mentes musicais capazes de demonstrar uma incrível habilidade de transitar entre diferentes gêneros musicais, conjugando-os em histórias emocionantes. A paulistana Vivi An é parte desta realidade, e seus sets podem abranger estilos que vão do Ambient ao IDM, deep House, Techno, Electro, Breaks, só para citar alguns. Tudo em prol de uma história musical maravilhosamente contada. Já tive o privilégio de acompanhar seus sets em festas pequenas e grandes, e a capacidade de surpreender e  destilar sofisticadas narrativas musicais está sempre presente. Desta forma, convidamos a artista para um set fora do tradicional tríade clubber do House, Techno e Electro, e o resultado é esse sensacional ensaio sonoro que você confere abaixo. Few people in Brazil can boast a career as deeply connected to electronic music as Vivi An. Her connection with the dance floor began in the 80s, deepened in the 90s, and has continued to evolve in the following decades. In addition to being a DJ, Vivi also worked in record stores, hosted radio shows like EXP (currently active on Veneno and Na Manteiga), and helped foster parties and various initiatives. Her sets, like the mix 383 for Troally, go beyond the obvious, offering a profound journey for those who see Dance Music beyond the surface. Welcome back, Vivi.

383: Vivi An

Vivi An is recognized for her authentic and eclectic musical identity, developed over the years through her involvement with São Paulo's alternative electronic music scene since the late 1980s. She frequented underground nightclubs such as Retrô and Hoellisch and witnessed the birth of the clubber scene, attending nights like Sra. Krawitz at Hell’s Club. She worked at a record store, expanding her musical knowledge as an avid researcher.  

Driven by the desire to share her knowledge and embrace sonic experimentation, she dedicated herself to DJing in 2013 and created EXP, a project that initially presented a series of mixtapes, which led to her first professional DJ invitations. Today, EXP is her radio show, currently hosted on Veneno and Na Manteiga radios, with a carefully curated selection that spans a wide range of electronic music genres, from non-club sounds to dancefloor energy, also featuring guest artists.  

Vivi An has performed at essential parties in São Paulo and other states, sharing the stage with artists such as DVS1, Ndrx, and Kancheli at ODD’s Bassiani editions, warming up for Shifted and Truncate at the Moving night at D-Edge Club, playing at the Antropofagik Festival with Shlømo, warming up for YYYY and Perc at Tantsa, performing at Hail The Light with Orbe, TROOP 6Y (SC) with Ryan Elliott and Mike Huckaby, SNM Festival Beco Elétrico, Trema (BSB), as well as at Clube Jerome, Matiz Bar, and many other significant venues and projects.  

Her restless spirit and keen ear for new sounds shape a body of work that refuses to be confined to a single style; she navigates between different musical genres from a unique perspective. Her sets invite the dancefloor into a realm of creative sonic power and high energy, blending sophisticated atmospheric nuances while building her musical journey through a genuine connection with music.
