Episode 02: Fernie [Live @ Orbits X Surge]

For the second instalment into our podcast series, we turn the clock hands back to last month and take passage to the far north, across the borderlands and into the heart of Scotland's cultural capital. This live recording from our dear friend Fernie took place between 3 and 4am, when the Glaswegian night Orbits (co-run by Fernie alongside Deepbass and Repart) took over local creative hub Surge for a stripped back night of no nonsense deep and hypnotic techno.

The recording is leaking with energy, offering a delightful insight into what was most surely a memorable affair. Fernie has been a true figure of support and guidance to us starting out with our venture, so this podcast is a real treat to broadcast. 2023년을 마무리하는 56번째 vurt podcast는 네덜란드를 중심으로 활동중인 프랑스 출신의 디제이/프로듀서 Laura BCR과 함께합니다. On Board Music을 이끌며 유럽을 무대로 활발하게 활동하고 있는 Laura BCR의 2시간 세트는 지난 11월에 Badaboum 파리에서 열린 파티에서 녹음되었습니다. 

"Last November, I’ve had the chance to play a closing set right after Paramida and Alex Kassian on a Thursday night at Badaboum in Paris for Cahiers Electroniques. The night not being Techno oriented, I tried to respect the progression of the running order on building a groovy set, full of percussions and quite dub focused. It turned out super energetic and people were transported by the storytelling - it’s a very good memory that I wanted to share with Vurt as I’m playing at the venue in Seoul on January 6.

It’s a pure best of 2023 what I have been playing this year with some classic tunes that come time to time in my sets from Ruhig to Tin Man (both timeless), Luigi Tozzi, Dorisburg, DJ Sodeyama, Justin Cudmore, Ectomorph or Ben Buitendjik. Laura는 감미롭고 깊이 있는 테크노와 더비 앰비언트 DJ 세트로 가장 잘 알려져 있으며, 온보드 뮤직(On Board Music)레이블, 에이전시 및 파티를 운영하는 것으로도 유명하다. 그녀는 SoHaSo, live at Robert Johnson, On Board, Auxiliary, Semantica에서 음악을 발표했으며, 최근에는 Konstrukt에서 새로운 EP를 발표하였다.

Laura BCR takes her name from the much-loved and now closed, Berlin record store, Bass Cadet Records, where she spent a couple of years behind the counter. These days, Laura is best known for her transportive, deep techno and dubby ambient DJ sets and for managing On Board Music label, agency & party organization. She has released music on SoHaSo, live at Robert Johnson, On Board, Auxiliary, Semantica and her latest EP has been out on Konstrukt a few weeks ago.

Starting the new year with a fresh episode of Altrove, we're thrilled to introduce Aurelius Scott, a visionary curator and meticulous music selector from Denver, Colorado. 

Aurelius, a fervent record enthusiast, delves into the ambient depths, crafting immersive journeys through his appearances on podcasts such as IO Records, Parallel Perception, and Tech Support Music. His podcast series, "Anodynic Frequencies," featured artists who share his affection for ambient and deeper techno, including names like Polygonia, Zemög, Adhemar just to name a few. 

“I was first introduced to Manuel through my podcast where I had the pleasure of hosting him, we quickly connected over the same passion for deeper moody techno and his style was an exact fit for the channel's vision. I have been a fan of his music and his series ever since. It was an honor to be asked for a contribution to his podcast earlier this year. The mood of the mix was curated by an early fall morning when the dense fog settled among the fields and daylight struggled to break through the trees.  The session starts with some darker subdued tones and slowly begins to breathe in more energy as the day progresses from early morning to dawn. I tried to capture this natural build with longer transitions and subtle progressions. The end of this mix has more of a heavy presence of pulsating deep techno.”


Aurelius has always been attracted to deeper cuts of music, fascinated by the world of rhythmic drums and hypnotic ambiance. in 2020 he started a series Anodynic Frequencies that is dedicated to fellow musicians with the same passion for music.  Since then he has connected with many talented individuals and has had the opportunity to work with many of them through guest mixes and promotions. In the upcoming year, he hopes to continue building relationships with more artists and continue to help contribute to a scene he deeply admires.

Happy New Year! This week, we're thrilled to have John Plaza behind the decks. Originally from Chile, John is now based in Barcelona and is the owner of @linderluftrecords. 

His unique sound features minimalist percussions, continuous atmospheres, and breakbeat rhythms, which create a distinct blend providing mental travel and movement. Previously he has released on labels such as The Gods Planet, Annulled, and KVLTÖ Records, thoroughly showcasing his versatility. His tracks have received remixes from artists such as Joaquín Ruiz and Svarog, and have gained support from Claudio PRC, Ness, and DVS1. Currently, he's making waves in the Spanish scene and is set to elevate his work through more collaborations with artists, labels, and radio shows.

In this recording, expect a deep, floating, and tribal collection of frequencies.
