Slynk and Fort Knox Five released their DC to BC collaboration in Fall 2021. “Keep the Funk Real” is a mid-tempo glitch-hop banger that features Evan’s signature killer keyboard riffs, fat bass drops, funky guitar hooks, strings, horns and bumpin’ beats. The next step was to find a remixer and their mutual admiration for Megan Hamilton’s production and funky approach to music made her the obvious choice! 

Megan Hamilton is a producer/vocalist out of Minneapolis and is known for her unique mix of hypnotic bass lines, funky riffs and house grooves. On top of releasing her own original music, she has been collaborating with artists like Defunk and touring with such notable acts as Opiuo, delivering her groovy brand of funk and creating quite a wave of hype along the way!

On her remix of Keep the Funk Real, she pushes the original’s mid-tempo wobbly direction into a funky, chunky, bubbling bouncer of a track. By speeding up the tempo, adding a banging house beat and flipping the music elements, Megan manages to keep the funky soul vibe of the track intact, while creating a super fun floor-burner that’s guaranteed to move your feet!

This remix is a sure fire “straight to the crates” tune that is destined to be funking up festivals all summer long. The release also includes an instrumental mix for the DJs.
