On 53rd St, near the University of Chicago, there's this shop called Hyde Park Records. It gets a ton of stuff from the neighborhoods around, LPs, cassettes, DVDs, they buy everything. When you go inside the first thing that you see is this huge bin filled to the top with 7'' records. It's literally bursting with records sitting on top of each others, falling on the nearby crates, some shattered on the floor - not unlike a huge volcano of groove. 
The store sells them for 25 cts each, and in fact most of them are worthless, completely warped, slashed, or stained. But then the ones that aren't are really, really good. In a way it's a bit like exploring your grand parents' attic: most of it is filled with dust and broken furniture, but sometimes you find the greatest treasures...
All the tracks in this mix are from this bin: the records have been dusted and cleaned as best as possible, and are now cherished by their new owner.
