PREMIERE: X CLUB. - SENSATION

Fresh Take Records keep the foot down for 2020 with a third release in as many months. This cut comes from Dundalk hard hitter HYYKEN. There must be something in the water in Ireland, as HYYKEN showcases more of the signature sound exported from the island in recent years. 

The EP kicks off with FLATBUSH AVE, the title track, which builds with a heart-thumping kick and ascends through the gears via a catchy hip hop sample. By the time the gliding baseline rears its head, it's sure to send any dance floor into overdrive. Next up is PRAYZE, a peak-time, hazy journey through jarring vocal chops and spacey synths which sound like they just landed from orbit. Two must-haves for the 2020 playlists.

PREMIERE: HYYKEN - Flatbush Ave [Fresh Take Records]

New York City based imprint HOMAGE continues to deliver raw and upfront electronic sounds from up and coming talent, the imprint released the debut EP from now hotly tipped artist KETTAMA and most recently released the critically acclaimed debut EP from Will Hofbauer. Here we see the label welcome Dublin, Ireland based artist DART onto its roster, yet another rising talent making waves on his home turf and further afield across the globe.

‘Raided’ opens the release with thunderous swinging drums, twitchy synth sequences, bumpy bass and rave-tinged strings to perfectly set the tone. ‘Only The Strong’ follows next, retaining a similarly rave-tinged aesthetic via a hypnotic synth hook, shuffled percussion and rumbling subs while female vocal hooks flow amongst the sturdy groove.

The two remixes make up the B-Side of the release and X-Coast’s ‘Da Vibe Mix’ is up first, reshaping the original with an uptempo trance-leaning twist courtesy of choppy, filtered synth licks, organic percussion and pulsing low-end bass line. Dixon Avenue Basement Jams regular Big Miz then rounds things out with his take on ‘Only The Strong’, opting for squelchy 303 licks and dusty dynamic drums alongside the originals lead and infectious vocals.

Floating between the clouds he looked down upon planet earth with a distant gaze as it all began to fall apart. Aeroplanes whizzed past with onlookers peering from the small windows, they watched him fly. All of his life he had been ready to ascend into outer space and join the heavens, the ground was no place for a man like him anyway. When it had been time to elevate, he'd packed his bags, left his house, cast a brief look back over his shoulder at the place he'd once called home and flew upwards in the hope of something new. Now it was time to start all over again amidst the clouds. 

Human Movement is set to release a new track on Of Leisure, a club focussed heater with a hell of a punch. This one is likely to see heavy rotation and fierce results.
