Nokia showcases Ultraviolet's high-tempo and intricate percussive work, with a relentless and syncopated synth to match. Way Out opens up in sonic space with the same distinctive production complemented by ethereal vocal stabs, before High Life introduces sophisticated granular breakbeat patterns.

Supercontinent EP, named for the ancient geological era when Africa and South America were joined as Pangea.

A reformulation of rhythmic ideas inspired by South African Amapiano and South American Baile Funk governs the two hemispheres of the record. The pair examine and deconstruct dancefloor material, eschewing 4/4 for interlocking shaker patterns, searing acid lines, cracking breakbeats, and vocal samples in Zulu and Brazil Portuguese.

An ascending percussive riff marks the arrival of “Pulgueiro Baile”, followed closely by break beats and the nostalgia of distinctly British acid electro. While pulguero translates as ‘flea market’ there is nothing random to be found; it is an intentionally future-forward retelling of a vintage sound, replete with a mind-melt breakdown of rave pads.

For the fourth release on the burgeoning OCHI imprint, label head Isaac Carter links up with Callum Asa on the ‘Both Sides’ EP. The three track release fuses their juxtaposing influences; meshing east coast influenced deep house motifs with UK bass, soul with intricate drum programming for an extremely well rounded EP that marks an exciting progression in the ever developing sonics of OCHI.

As it kicks off, a peak time reverie blasts through a sultry club night in one of Kinugawa's abandoned Onsen hotels. With a fusion of pumping kick drums, lighthouse echo effects and dreamy synthesizers punctuated by a high-spirited monologue interlude, Max In The World dives deep into the uncanny pleasures of human nature.

Dawn Razor and Archetech, two friends and two-thirds of the once-active trio Sonnen Blumen Kerne, have collaborated to deliver an album of tracks previously released exclusively on vinyl through Dawn Razor’s NARA Records. When Lobster Theremin ceased operations, the stock of these releases was lost, leaving only brief preview snippets online.

Adam approached HOMAGE with the story and shared the tunes with us. Moved by the situation, we decided to release all of the tracks as a retrospective album. Thus, 'Half Life' was born—a collection of 10 tracks that blur the boundaries between slammin' electro, breakbeat, and mutated bass, all with a minimalist edge.

'Half Life' will be available to stream and download from May 17th, 2024.

PREMIERE: Dawn Razor & ArcheTech - Elect Row (Original Mix)

Good news! Pacific Rhythm returns with its first long player of 2024 on July 5th from ZG, a collaborative effort from Zansika Lachhani and Grant (aka Tony from Frank & Tony). The LP titled “Out Of The Unknown” is the followup to the duo’s first incredibly well-received self-titled LP that landed back on NYC-based label Scissor & Thread in 2022.

Over the course of 6 tracks, ZG takes their sound a step further, building rich, deep, and complex rhythm patterns paired with thoughtful and unexpected musical arrangements. The voice of Zansika ties it all together to create a unique and singular vision of modern deep dance music informed by the duo’s life-long musical journey. 

“Out Of The Unknown” effortlessly flows through dramatic atmospheric downtempo landscapes, MPC-style beatmaking, late 90’s deep house, and beautifully builds a bridge between UK and US-inspired sounds. Enjoy the trip! It’s certainly a beautiful one.
