Sound Of Vast welcomes Shinichiro Yokota back with new EP, ‘Time Lapse’, comprised of three originals from the Tokyo artist.

Tokyo born and raised Shinichiro Yokota has been recording his unique twist on electronic music since the early eighties, after meeting fellow Japanese artist Soichi Terada in 1987 his career began to flourish and subsequent releases surfaced on his and Terada’s own Far East Recordings from the 90’s onwards. Here, following his ‘Ultimate Yokota 1991 – 2019’ compilation on the label in 2019, Shinichiro returns to Sound Of Vast with this new EP, selection of cuts from the forthcoming album "Tokonoma Style", a project composed using a selection of vintage synthesizers such as AKAI's old sampler S1100, KORG M1, and PROPHET-5, which were actually used in the early 1990s. It's a full album with 12 tracks. These three tracks will be presented for the first time on vinyl via Sound Of Vast.

Title-track ‘Time Lapse’ leads and in typical Yokota fashion treats up to euphoric house keys, breathy vocals and intricate swinging drums alongside brass licks, tension building strings and wandering synth sequences.
‘Interested In It’ follows next, shifting focus towards choppy distorted bass tones, an amalgamation of bright, resonant synth tones and stripped back drums before ‘Detectors’ rounds out the release, employing eighties tinged bass and plucked synth tones, vocoder voices and dreamy, ethereal textures.

全曲Soichi Terada監修のもと制作された12曲入りのニューアルバム「Tokonoma Style」は、1990年代初頭に実際に使用していたAKAIのオールドサンプラー S1100やKORG M1、PROPHET-5などビンテージシンセサイザーを駆使し、アジアンテイストが全面的に押し出された作品だ。
収録曲はディープハウスだけでなく、若きShinichiro Yokotaが特に影響を受けたテクノポップ、ファンク、ヒップホップなど様々なジャンルを落とし込みながらも、彼の持ち味である甘いメロディやポジティブなエネルギーを昇華した意欲作となっている。

〈Sound Of Vast〉からリリースする3曲入りのEPは完全ダンスフロア仕様となっており、特にリード曲「Time Lapse」は多幸感溢れるアッパーなハウストラックに仕上がっている。

Ever-evolving Australian outfit The Possé debut on cult deep house label Pulp with Moods & Vibrations. Their fresh new four-tracker includes a remix from Space Ghost.

Andrew Elston and Ross Ferraro are the core members of The Possé, but the group often expands or contracts with various other musicians. Since 2017 they have released on the likes of Plastic World, Ken Oath Records and Kolour LTD, and bring plenty of Southern Hemisphere heat to all their productions.

'Parting' opens up with plenty of soulful Detroit house flavours. The dusty drums get you in the groove while subtle acid and silky pads bring a feel-good, sun-kissed vibe.
Remixer Space Ghost is Sudi Wachspress, a real album specialist who has released on Tartelet and Apron Records. He has a uniquely lo-fi house sound that draws on funk and soul. This remix is a late-night jam with gorgeous trumpet motifs and scuffed-up drum patterns all finished off with warming sunset chords.

Then comes 'In Focus', a brilliantly loose and jazzed-up jam. The skipping drums are run through with playful keys and humid chords that cannot fail to bring the party.
'Prime Mover' is a little more direct and dynamic but no less heartfelt, with more expressive melodies and infectious drums. A liquid Mix of 'Prime Mover' layers in fatter bass and more crisp percussion to take you to another level.

Moods & Vibrations is an EP of rich, musical house grooves that are overflowing with soul.

Steppin’ out with their first VA release since the label’s inception in 1995, Worldship Music follows up the release of underground sensation Roberta’s The Brooklyn Ave Sessions with Herald Traccs Vol. 1. The record is a (mostly) LA based affair, starting with Jam’s Theme, a clever flip of a classic from veteran producer and former Underground Resistance member Santiago Salazar. Next up is En Echo, a deep and dubby affair from Echo Park’s Kelvin K, a seminal figure in SF’s early 00’s house scene. Label owners Teflon Dons open the B side with a tough, deep garage cut that would have likely set the UK garage scene on fire. Unfinished since '98, the Dons thankfully revisited this lost classic for some finishing touches. Rounding out the release is the mysterious Westcoast Goddess, whose First Tear emotes a melancholy beauty reminiscent of Hanna’s early work. Heading strong into their 26th year, underground house music is here to stay with Worldship. Look out for volume 2, the hunger continues…

The elusive Takuya Matsumoto has been floating beneath the surface of the underground scene for a decade, high on the list of double AA listers like Floating Points and Move D since he dropped a few slammers on Meda Fury.  Returning for his second outing on the uber-cool Fina Records, with his ‘Tape Is Rewound EP’. This collection is an unrelated group of tracks which normally one would question them sitting on the same slab of vinyl, but here it just works.  Deep house grooves are merged with tech- tinged beats, punctuated with some filthy dirty acid lines. Killer EP from the crew.

US techno's man of the moment Byron the Aquarius completes the EP by turning the title track inside out with shuffling hats, snapping machine funk snares and a bubbling bass, making it even more impressive by exposing its moving parts and giving them a neat polish.
