After beginning his career with roots in Drum & Bass, Russian producer Nuage shifted his sound to embrace a wider range of styles while maintaining an emotionally charged sound and finding a home on labels such as Anjunadeep and 20:20 Vision. For our 32nd Phonica Records Label release, we are proud to present four stunningly euphoric works from Nuage.

Kicking off the ‘Pink Television EP’ is the title track, a floaty and playful melodic House excursion that reminds us of Floating Points’ synth work on his ‘Crush’ album. Next is ‘Ninety High’ which swaps the four to the floor for an intricate breakbeat, highlighting Nuage’s history in break heavy music. A cleverly reconceptualised Disco vocal sample and subtly withheld synth lines are combined with a sub rattling and pulsating bassline.

Maintaining the breakbeat on the B-side, ‘Don’t Forgive Me’ recalls classic Trance and Progressive House with haunting vocal reverberations and a warehouse wall shaking bassline as the track meanders through tension and release of euphoric energy. Lastly, ‘Glances’ opens with a skittish Rhodes riff and unites it with rich and perky melodies that weave in and out of focus.

A2. Ninety High

Up here in the mountains, above the clouds, sunrise was the most beautiful time of day. Everything was still and silent, from the green hills to the sleepy towns in the valley, except the intermittent buzz of insects and soft whistling of birds in the distance. The sky was hued with hazy pinks and burnt oranges as the sun began its journey into the sky and light started to spread across the landscape. The world began to wake from its slumber and the cycle of the day began once more.

Seb Wildblood's first release of the year - a three-track EP titled vitara 3000 - comes via Istanbul-based imprint Oath. Marking his first material since last May's sophomore long player do you feel it too?, the music represents a new creative chapter in his life physically and sonically. Having moved to LA from London a few years back, the tracks that form the EP, a nostalgic, blissed out broken beat affair, were spawned from him finding his first proper studio space in the city, and showcases the 'sound and energy' that this new location stimulated in his creativity and production.

Classically trained at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Henry’s technical proficiency is evident in his productions. Transcending genres from breakbeat, house, brooding electronica and more to create forward thinking music. 

The Sydney-based producer encapsulates his state-of-the art creations across three exceptional tracks though his ‘From The Ashes’ EP. Each track is crafted by his impressive instrumental abilities, with tight drum productions, mesmerizing sound designs and beautifully composed chord progressions. Forming a delicate aesthetic with engaging textures that take you on an ambient journey tinged with nostalgia.

In the final single release before the highly anticipated album hits the shelves, Tropics’ ‘Idle Away’ makes an early appearance, packaged alongside a stunning remix from https://soundcloud.com/dialogg.

The original is rich with echoing vocals and warming pads, teetering over glitch ridden percussion and simplistic bass foundations. Aleksandir’s cut welcomes a more upbeat adaptation to the drums whilst evolving the melodic elements through arpegiated patterns and further eerie synth swells.
