The first in a series of three 12" samplers featuring a selection of tracks from our 'Ten Years Of Phonica' compilation, released in 2014. 

Tigersushi and Crowdspacer boss Joakim kicks off the first 12" with melancholic masterpiece 'EAHR'. A prolific and sonically diverse producer, his balearic-flavoured remixes over the years for the likes of Antena and Max Berlin shines through on this one. Up next is the enigmatic Panoram, a shop favourite since his brilliant 'Accents' 12" arrived back in 2012. The lysergic 'Alpha Marmara' hits all the right spots once again.

On the b-side edit-masters and rare record connaisseurs Psychemagik contribute the string-laden 'Triumph Of The Gods', an ambitious Axelrod-esque modern funk gem. Finally, Alex Egan resurrects his work as The Draughtsman one last time with the previously unreleased track 'Fade To Green' - a deep, atmospheric house/techno cut recorded during the same 2010/11 sessions as his '1694 EP'.

‘I Feel How This Night Should Look’ is an album with a phenomenal backstory. It spans back over a decade back to when Tom Coveney and Danny McLewin first met in 2008 and produced the ten tracks over an intensive two year period following the birth of Psychemagik.  It was recorded at a number of esteemed locations primed for sonic craft including Kate Bush’s old workspace, George Martin’s Air Studios Lyndhurst Hall, where the duo recorded a seventeen piece string section, and Toe Rag Studios recording drums onto tape.  

This album is a true labour of love.  The first taste comes via the effortlessly smooth and immediately deep ‘We Can Be One feat. Quinn Lamont Luke’.  An invigorating and ethereal cut offset with the acid rifts and the Balearic vocals by the New York artist.  ‘We Can Be One’ beautifully lays down the foundations and entry point into the endlessly unique and diverse world of Psychemagik.

Seb Wildblood's ever soothing and reflective 'All My Thoughts' imprint is back when it's needed most. This time round it's 'Rossum Universal Tracks', who serve up their second outing and a masterful four track EP from the recently formed duo - who happened to incidentally consist of Lehult associates, Lucky Charmz and DJ Assam. AMT illustratively describe the record below

"A lonely craft drifts aimlessly through an unmapped region of space, deep in the unknown. It’s crew of two is fast asleep, hibernating in dark cabins – they left their home around 400 days ago. A singular drop of condensation forms on the tip of the index finger of one them. The hydrosleepchamber is leaking and it won’t be long before a barking alarm will force them out of their hibernation. They will awake to find that their situation has not changed: Still out of fuel, drifting aimlessly through space, steadily increasing the distance between them and the home they have fled. Yet their dream, a flash, yet vivid memory burned deeply into their microplatines, keeps them hopeful and believing of a time of soft reigns: How beautiful are these pink shores how have we come to get here? How welcoming are these strange creatures? How have we come to know them?"

I still remember the day like it was my last, a day that will never be forgotten from the past. I can still retrace every step, every breath, every word. Every time I realised what I was doing, right up until the moment I got caught, then I blacked out... Couldn’t remember a thing until the police got there, caught me red-handed with all the evidence they needed clearly in my hands.

Miami-based DJ Ray & Goiz return with the second release on their label Open Space, following the debut outing from Goiz last May. The newest instalment, a five tracker titled Digital Lifeline, comes from their close friend, Gateway Shuffle AKA Alexander Folonari, and was written and recorded in the Italian countryside of Chianti. Our pick, 'Green Tribute' confidently merges a nostalgic acid line with slow rising pads and bouncing Balearic percussion lines, whilst creating a hard-to-grasp narrative through its unusual and suspenseful arrangement.

An imaginary journey from New York to Paris, based on one single session from Scharbatke with his new Studio Partner Jonathan Uhlig ended up in these piano - espresso - cafe mood kind of tracks. But with thick cigarette smoke and violent palpitations.

Jonny Sriraxa & Luci B's indomitable sonic system, Nostalgia Futura is a project born during the first confinement period in Madrid, Spain, at the peak of the Covid-19 crisis. The overwhelming sensations of physical, social, and emotional detention painted the horizon with a nostalgic hue..."so we felt a certain type of nostalgia for this particular future..." And now, in their sets and performances, Jonny Sriraxa and LuciB aim to transmit the entirety of that accumulated energy through rhythms oriented towards the dance floor--evoking reflection through motion-- and flowing across a variety of genres, histories, and influences that fuse the old, new, and still-evolving.
