After starring in one of our most popular Against the Clock episodes, it's Tom Demac's turn on the FACT mix.

Demac has been releasing music for over 10 years, since launching the now-defunct Electronique Audio label for his own productions in 2004, but has really risen up the house and techno ranks over the last few years, releasing on club strongholds like Hypercolour, Aus Music, Drumcode and Pets Recordings.

His FACT mix centres around unreleased material: it opens on an edit of Gazelle Twin (Demac recently released an EP on HypeLTD, editing material from the Brighton musician's recent album Unflesh), and features three tracks from a new EP, Smoke Satined Ivories, due on Aus on March, as well as a handful of other edits Demac has made for his sets: tracks that he's "run through pedals and added octaves here and there".

It seems weird to think of Demac being 10 years into his career now, but his FACT mix shows him at his most authoritative. Oh, and he's definitely not forgotten that sometimes you just need to beat the listener round the head with a massive bassline, either.

Songs With No Name is an album about what exists before language—and what remains after words fall away. It explores sound as pure presence, unlabelled emotion, and unfinished meaning. These are tracks that do not ask to be defined, categorized, or summarized. They simply exist, allowing the listener to meet them without expectation.

At its core, this album questions the need to name everything. Names can clarify, but they can also confine. Songs With No Name steps outside that framework. By removing titles as anchors, the music invites a deeper tform of listening—one guided by feeling, memory, and intuition rather than description. Each track becomes a mirror rather than a message.

Sonically, the album is spacious, intimate, and quietly expansive. Ambient textures blend with subtle rhythms, creating environments rather than statements. Some tracks feel like drifting thoughts, others like emotional undercurrents moving beneath awareness. Melodies appear and dissolve. Patterns form, then loosen. Nothing demands attention, yet everything rewards it.

The absence of names allows each piece to shift depending on the listener’s state. A track that feels calm one day may feel heavy the next. Another might bring clarity without explanation. The music does not impose narrative—it adapts. In this way, the album becomes deeply personal while remaining universally open.

The album unfolds organically, without a rigid arc. Early pieces establish stillness and openness, easing the listener out of interpretation and into sensation. Midway through, textures become richer and more layered, suggesting emotional density without directing it. Later tracks thin out again, returning to space, breath, and quiet continuity. There is no climax, only flow.

Production throughout Songs With No Name emphasizes subtlety and restraint. Space is treated as a collaborator. Silence is intentional. Transitions are gentle, often imperceptible, reinforcing the idea that meaning does not always arrive with emphasis. The music trusts the listener to stay.

Brent James Schoning, performing as Brent Schön AI, uses technology here as a transparent medium rather than a spectacle. Digital tools provide clarity and consistency, but the focus remains on emotional resonance and intuitive pacing. The human presence is felt not through declaration, but through sensitivity.

Symbolically, the album speaks to identity without labels. To experiences that are real but hard to articulate. To moments that resist summary—grief without a word, peace without a reason, connection without explanation. These songs honor that space.

Songs With No Name is suited for deep listening, late nights, creative focus, reflection, or simply being. It does not instruct. It does not resolve. It accompanies.

This album does not tell you what it is.
It allows you to decide what it becomes.

Music as atmosphere.
Music as openness.
Music as unnamed truth.

Clavis is a collaboration from German producers Manuel Tur and Adrian, AKA Urban Absolutes of Paskal & Urban Absolutes.
