Influences Series

Influences’ is a chance for artists to explore the music which inspires them, whether this may be in their own productions, other artistic ventures, or in everyday life. Each mix will take the listener on a lucid, sonic journey through the foundations of the creator’s signature sound.

This eclectic mix of genres reflects the boundless variety across each of Sterlo’s productions. Whilst he bounces between a multitude of genres, spanning from Rave & Hardcore to Hip Hop, the high standard he has set in his music stays consistent.

He writes: “This mix is composed of music from artists that I’ve had on repeat throughout the past year. Despite the pandemic having left me with little to do in my free time other than discovering and creating tunes, it’s been increasingly difficult for me to connect with club-focused music outside of its usual context.”

“I’ve found myself drawing influence from an eclectic range of genres, reconnecting with scenes that I’d forgotten, and trying to channel these inspirations into songs and sets that can hold their own in packed venues and tinny headphones alike. The result is a whirlwind journey through Jungle, Hip Hop, Dancehall, Broken Beat, Funk Carioca and much more.”

Influences Series - Sterlo

You know a clÜ tune when you hear one. His unique palette of lush pads, pensive pianos, and rumbling 808s mark his unmistakable sound. His song ‘Vision’ is a prime example of the Hip Hop & Rap influence you can find in his music, through the moody elements and atmosphere, in addition to the infectious, jazzy groove. 

“This mix demonstrates a plethora of different genres that inspire my production and have formed my music taste. It features a variety of atmospheric tunes of different styles that really resonate with me, and I hope that transcends through into this 60 minutes”

Fourth Floor brings you a mix by Gracie T which includes a variety of footwork and jungle tracks. Alongside this Gracie uses sounds & dubs from the south asian community.

Gracie T is a Secondary School English teacher and creative from up north. She co-founded tuneshare platform, The Beatriarchy and South Asian creative collective, Daytimers, which both aim to give underrepresented artists the exposure they deserve.
Gracie mixes whatever the hell she wants and every set is a unique surprise packed with dubs on dubs. With support slots for Conducta, Anz, Jossy Mitsu and LCY under her belt and recent appearances on BBC Asian Network, Flex FM & Reprezent FM, she's one to keep your eye on.
