Mezmer performed live visuals during this set, so I asked him to remix Tom Loranz's painting Naranja to accompany this release.

The Oxidized compilation series is a charity project we have been working on since the inception of The Rust Music, with Oxidized, Vol. 1 being our very first label release in February 2017. At the end of each year we select a new charity, aid organization, or non-profit, to which all proceeds from the series are donated. In the past we have donated to organizations focusing on natural disaster aid, environmental restoration and preservation, as well as civil/human rights advocates and COVID-19 relief efforts on local, national, and international levels. 2022 proceeds from the Oxidized series will be donated to support women’s rights to healthcare and access to abortion, with this year’s donation to be determined towards the end of 2023.

Across the last 6 years, we've recurrently tapped into a network of both our roster talent and our close associates across the experimental electronic music spectrum to craft our first two Oxidized compilations. Now, for the final entry in the Oxidized Trilogy, we've brought together 32 producers, songwriters, and musicians from the US, the UK, Germany and Georgia to craft 28 tracks that cross through a medley of motifs in Hip-Hop, Drum & Bass, Downtempo, and more. Please relax and enjoy this curated selection of moods and attitudes, courtesy of The Rust Music and our extended kinfolk.

Foxtail - Path

A return to where it all started, Tipper & Friends Suwannee. These grounds are magic and I've grown to see that even more over the years. It is an honor to contribute to this community that continues to inspire me. Here's my set from the Sunday Picnic Stage. I had so much fun playing this and even though there were some flaws, I feel they compliment and balance out the strengths. It's really interesting to hear my progress since my first Suwannee 5 years ago.

Foxtail live at Tipper & Friends '23

Here is my second ever live ambient set from The Rendezvous at Suwannee. I spent a lot of time thinking about and preparing for this set, I wanted to pay homage to the OG ambient legends from the late 80s and early 90s - and incorporate a lot of the music I listen to and resonate with in my downtime. I really enjoyed putting this together and playing it out to a cozy and receptive crowd. There are a few unreleased tunes of mine that I made ambient versions of as well as a fancy collab with Wicker's Portal, unreleased Ion Driver & Thought Process ambient.

Foxtail - Live at Secret Dreams Ambient 2023

Here is my first ever live ambient set from Secret Dreams.

I’ve listened to ambient music more than anything else over the years and I wanted to showcase how gentle and profound this music can be. I created and performed this set at Secret Dreams Festival a few years ago. I really appreciate them for believing in me and allowing me to use space, for trusting me with it too. I never ended up releasing the set, but recently replayed it for late night ambient at Tipper’s final festival at Suwannee. I was incredibly moved by the response. People asked to relisten and to comb the tracklist... so here it is. Felt like the right time to let it go.

At Secret Dreams I was paired with Uhnomaly doing visuals, at Suwannee Datagrama took over the stage while Pyroglyphics performed with fire. Reino plugged in his kinect and did motion particle physics as well. It was quite the moment.

Here is my set from the after party for the Tipper 3-Night-Run in Chicago. I played an early morning sunrise set on Funktion Ones. This set ranges through a lot of styles and moods, this time in my life was very emotionally powerful - and I tried to express that as much as possible. Obviously it's a big nod to Dave Tipper and Mike Wallis ;) as well as all the other amazing artists that inspire me on a daily basis. Please check out the tracklist and support any of the artists you hear in this mix that you enjoy. 

This live set was recorded without any beatmatching or sync, I  honestly prefer the organic feel of mixing without the structure at this point in my career.

I hope you like it, as much as I liked playing it :)

The inspiration for this mix came from Tipper's Downtempo Shambhala mix 2005.

When I first heard that mix my life was changed forever, it blossomed my love for electronic music and the emotional connotation it can carry. 

Since then I've found the style of music I truly resonate with, and have never looked back.

This submission is a nod to all of the artists that have inspired me and shown me auditory bliss.

I wrote this for my Head Nod Mix after researching and digging into the history of hip hop and trip hop. I sampled an old German record I found at a thrift store for a quarter, the original song I chopped is called "Die Alten Strassen Noch".  It also features me scratching, which I have been practicing.

Feeling humbled to play a sold out show in my hometown opening up for Emancipator in Salt Lake City. It has always been my dream to share pieces of music that have inspired me or touched my heart. This past show I played more of my own original content than I ever have before. This was the first time I walked off stage feeling proud of the track selection, mixing, scratching and performance. Usually I am feeling discouraged after I play knowing I could have done better or focusing on a small mistake; however, this time I feel great about it.  stay tuned for more content. The Utah-based audiophile and producer Foxtail reinvents his own wheel with Revontulet. Foxtail’s sound is categorically fluid in every way, and he succeeds in delivering on that fluidity yet again. Each aspect of his songwriting process has continued to mature, from the precise production to the crisp engineering. This maturation process has resulted in a tonally balanced set of five songs that together weave an emotional membrane.

Each track pairs off with the one ahead of it in a spacious, harmonious dance. The synthesis patching across the release is consistent and direct, creating a continuity that holds the record together like glue. Two tracks feature careful, syncopated vinyl cuts that dart through the percussion layers, combining dancefloor sentimentalities with downtempo ambience. Foxtail’s rhythmic structures are concise and hypnotic, carrying each composition straight from headphones to headspace.

Returning fans will remember his last release, Kitsune, as a melodious terminal into the Foxtail audio mythology. Revontulet is its natural successor, honing in on and evolving his undeniably dynamic style. Grouped together with his first release, Vosmana, these three EP’s makeup a dynamic trilogy that spans across the musical mindset of Foxtail.

Here is my live set from Equinox Festival in Maine 2019

The darkness of the sky faded into a wonderful glow behind the stage as I performed leading into Spoonbill's sunrise set.

I started pretty mellow and worked into some faster tunes to match the tempo of mother nature's natural light.

Electronic Music Compilation curated by Roel Funcken - 71 tracks (released in 2 parts) chosen from 250 pieces generously donated by musicians around the globe.
This project (comprised of electronic music and accompanying photography) is an international collective effort to generate funds for the rescue, preservation and safe sanctuary of koalas and other vulnerable wildlife affected by the unprecedented catastrophic fires of the Australian Black Summer (September 2019 - February 2020) resulting in a massive loss of habitable forests.
Koalas need homes, just like all of us. Currently they are refugees in their own land, so we are raising funds to acquire habitat which will be protected in perpetuity and will continue to support a huge number of indigenous species. This is the start of a program that will provide safe habitat and a future for endangered animals in Australian states of New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
By creating these compilations we have had an opportunity to use our voice for the voiceless, those who cannot speak for themselves, and we unite to support endangered species and animal rights.
Thank you to all involved in creating and supporting this project and to everyone purchasing the compilations, together we are making a difference.

Somatoast - Borborygmus (Foxtail Remix)

Saeiound and @therust have combined their resources to present a cinematic recap of the most devastating year of most of our lives in order to raise funds for those most displaced by the pandemic. 

All proceeds go to The Global Foodbanking Network which specializes in aiding local foodbanks around the world. We chose this because this pandemic isn't a local issue, and we wanted to help spread your contributions around the world. Every $1 generated will provide roughly 15 meals!
