Old Textures

This is the first song that I have recorded with my HeadRush Looperboard. I layered four separate acoustic guitar parts using a Taylor Koa 214ce. I then added Latin Percussion Conga Drums, Teak Shakers & Meinl Bongos using my old Yamaha MD4s minidisk recorder. Now, I have remixed this track by adding my Slingerland Snare Drum with Wire Brushes and Zildjian Constantinople Cymbals.

I started making keys with Dm. Using 70's video game tones. However, as I was creating the saxophone solo using a piano roll, for some reason the melody and chords of Far East Asia increased and became more intense. Even if I'm making it, the dragon has control, and I have to make sure I don't anger him. The dragon lives in my heart.

I am so excited about collaborating with soprano Maribel Villarroel and arranger and pianist René Calderón. The lyrics are from the Pablo Neruda poem "Para Mi Corazón" in the book "Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair". Translated by W.S Merwin. Permission has been granted by Fundación Pablo Neruda.

Qu'y a t'il entre nous ? (What is it between us ? )

Hello dear Listeners,

Indeed, it's been a long while since Tim and I posted New Music together as  Shekinah Fire*, but today's the day!

This improvisation was recorded by our one Stereo ZOOM Mic on April 8th during the Solar Eclipse. 

I am on Tim's ancient upright Grand Piano and he's playing his Telecaster electric Guitar. What came forth as we played were Allelujahs for  the Joy of Spring and the wonders of improvisation.

In case you're wondering about the title, the jewel-like 'sparks' made visible in the Sun's Corona just before it reached Totality then as it exited (as captured in the Photo), are called 'Baily's Beads'. We hope you'll hear them as the music unfolds.
