The story of the Catholic Church in Korea is truly a unique and amazing story; it all began with one lay person from Korea.  In this homily which I now post on Sound Cloud, in addition to covering the story of the Korean Church, I also talk about Mary being the Seed of the Final Harvest; I entrust our efforts to implement a new evangelization to the Blessed Virgin because she is the Mother of the Church, Our Lady of Sorrows, and the Queen of all Martyrs. I gave this homily on January 4, 2015: The Feast of the Epiphany; Ordinary Form of the Roman Catholic Mass; 9:30 AM Sunday Mass at St. John's in Rapids City.  Attached to this recording is a photo of several things we had available for people who came to Mass this morning: packets of chalk with a copy of a Blessing of Homes on the occasion of the Epiphany;  bags of gold coins which were actually made of chocolate; Myrrh and Frankincense incense sticks for home use; and vials of Myrrh essential oil.  A group of parishioners got this together for me to which I am very grateful.  In my homily, I talked about a Spanish Ikea commercial about a group of children who were invited to write two letters: one to the three kings; one to their parents.  The parents were surprised at what their children asked of them. My main message for this Sunday was this: the most precious gift we can give to Jesus is the gift of ourselves which is worth more than all the gold, frankincense, and myrrh that the world contains.

I gave this homily on Jan. 11, 2015: Feast of the Baptism of the Lord; Ordinary Form of the Roman Catholic Mass; 9:30 AM Sunday Mass at St. John's in Rapids City.  Attached to this recording is a photo of Teresa Oltman, holding her baby daughter Zellie Therese Oltman, who is about to be baptized at the 9:30 AM Sunday Mass.  This Sunday was the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, the transitional point in the modern Catholic liturgy which moves us out of the Christmas season and into Ordinary Time.  In my homily this morning, I focused on the significance of Jesus being baptized at the Jordan River, and how the Jordan River represented God giving a second chance to the People of God.  My big point: God is a God who gives us multiple chances to respond to grace.
