Yeaah!

This week was a lot harder than last week! The 7 hours didn't seem to be enough and even after 5 hours I was wanting to get into sound design and some FX. But I knew that time was running out and I had to get it finished! I made the mistake of starting this week with an idea in mind and choosing sounds based on that idea whereas last week I had no idea and just randomly selected sounds to see what would happen when they were all put together.

Duality

This week I decided to use almost all loops from my library rather than writing them from scratch. The vocal sample I heard a long time ago and I have been waiting for a track that I thought was suitable to use it in.

I still ran out of time for the mix down in the end but I think the track turned out pretty well considering.

That Is A Number One

Something a little more chill this week, a little on the future house tip. This time I tried to use some of Ableton's preset drum racks. Still needed to tweak them a little. I'm finding now that I am running out of time to finish the tracks, I guess that's no surprise. What I am learning though is that you can get your track laid out and sounding pretty respectable in just 7 hours. A little bit of planning helps and also knowing your sound library.

Trouble

Really ran out of time on this one though I am still pretty happy with how it turned out. I started with an ambitious idea to cut up and tweak several different effects patches in my Nemesis synth. This took up nearly my first two hours, then the arrangement and drop wasn't working so I had to play around with that for ever. It left me with only a short time to mix down, ahhrrgg!!

I Tell The DJs What To Play

This track needs a revisit. I ran out of time, leaving me so many ideas about what to do to it. I think it's a solid base for a solid track but needs some more love. Keep an ear out for a revised version of this in the coming months.


Bigiddy Bang Bang

140 BPM means, to me anyway, Trap - unless you consider Trap to be 70BPM which it is at times too...  Anyway.. hope you like this final song for this segment of FractionOne24. My plan is to tweak some of these mixes and do a bit of promo for them, see if I can get some more listens. This has been a fun project! 7 songs in 7 weeks, 1 hour a day. I haven't been as productive as this in 10 years.
