Italo Brutalo - IN DARK WE TRUST #193

In this episode I invited @jakobmaeder to contribute a mix to Palm Paradise! He is a Stuttgart based DJ and producer who also performs live. His musical interest spans across different genres: ambient, disco, house, acid, and sometimes even techno inspired music.

He plays regularly at Romantica, Dresden Bar and some other bars and clubs in Stuttgart. Together with his crew Midnight Service he organises events with artists such as Johannes Albert, Philipp Schultheis or Panthera Krause, just to name a few. 

Ranging from reduced ambient to classic house inspired deep house or experimental breakbeat productions, his output as a producer reflects his eclectic taste as a DJ. Besides crafting his very own tracks, cheerful disco tracks result from his artistic work every now and then. 

He started his own label Constant Change in 2021.

Moderna's style is described as a dark heady blend of Dark Disco, Elektro, Acid and Techno with wrought darkened vocals that have become her signature distinction.

Her discography includes 3 EPs with Mexican artist Theus Mago which are on Kill the DJ’s Lumiere Noire series, French label La Dame Noir and Barcelona-based This Side Up.

Her most recent remixes were for Sebastien Chenut of Scratch Massive, Macauley on Twirl Records, Imaski on Establishment, Machino on Glauben Records and the latest for Bad Habits of Lithuania.

Now residing in Berlin the Los Angeles transplant is touring worldwide and curates her well-regarded Hybrid Radio show and Label Brave New Rave.

Red Axes have just dropped the recording of a very special 5 hour set in Room 2. Now available to stream, this exclusive recording from this time last year is a deep-dive into the staple sound of the punk-edged duo.

Made up of Tel-Aviv Based producers and DJs Dori Sadovnik & Niv Arzi, Red Axes have been more than catching our eyes and ears over the past few years.  So much so, we’re keen to share our passion for the duo elsewhere, even taking them to other venues such as Village Underground for another special extended session earlier this year.

The pair have roots in rock music and begun their creative collaboration when they were in a band together. So perhaps it is unsuprising that today, their electronic music projects delve into a sound that roams through psychedelic electronica, post-punk and new wave elements, often dipping into a retro rock and 80’s hued sound that first fuelled their sonic spark.

Here is our fourth episode of fragmented:select with Zombies in Miami (soundcloud.com/zombiesinmiami).

Cani & Jen founded the project and despite the name they are not crawling around Miami, but shining out their light from Mexico. The couple became one of the most prominent members of Mexico‘s vital electronic scene over the last decade. You can call their sound a rhythmic and synth-driven house and techno hybrid, with a disco and balearic twist, which is held together by the oh so sweet Italo Drama.

The two not only played in Dresden this summer, but also left a piece of their hearts here. With fragmented:select 4 they reduce their geographical distance one more time.

As a lover of electronic dance music, Nicole Aramiss collected a vast amount of dancefloor memories since her late teens. She secretly dreamt that one day she would also stand behind the decks and share music and magic. And so she did, albeit a bit later in life, passionately learning the skills and always digging for music. She now performs in many spots in Switzerland. Her styles in music are varied but she always follows that red thread to move with you. Enjoy the ride!
