Sam and I were free from familiar, societal establishments on an island off the coast of Thailand this past summer. Amidst the sun-glazed palm trees, scent of growing young coconuts and the feel of salty, sea-worn skin in the palms of our handholds, experiencing paradise morphed into responsibility. Because from the corner of my eye, couples fight, children cry, locals labor and accidents still happen here. The balance between mundane and exotic cuts through these Sagittarius moments of mine taking it’s time to even out. There’s a bit of paradise and a bit of routine in every moment much to my dismay and also to my great, great relief. It’s my job/challenge to accept them both.
