As this is for an opening slot, I tried to keep it strong while reserved. Staying below 130bpm and sticking with a flow that is relaxed while also exciting to warm up the crowd and prepare them for the sick acts to follow.

Enigma Competition Mix

Kicking off the new year we have Frame Shift, a Dublin based DJ who began DJing in early 2019.

His selections are filled with music that holds an uncompromising attitude, threading the line between bright sparks and dark recesses.

Drawing on sounds from UK Bass, such as Garage, D'n'B, and Dubstep, while incorporating the harder side of Techno, Frame Shift utilises his eclectic taste to challenge the norm.

In this mix he has focused on Techno and Breaks, spinning new tracks from some of his favourite producers, along with some older cuts, including material from Kessler, Sharpson, and Madame.

01: Panda Drey

U.K. based artist Kamzuqi is a music man through and through. His family raised him on reggae, garage and jungle from the early 2000’s and the passion for underground bass music is a part of his DNA at this point 🧬

He co-founded the Manchester based @solitude.mcr who, since lockdown, have been an influential label in the UKG scene and beyond. SOLITUDE have thrown sell-out shows, a long standing guest mix series with some of the biggest names in bass, as well as a new string of releases, moving them into record label territory (this also means Kam has access to a bunch of hard to find, unreleased music) 👀

Kam is a confident music journalist having studied it at Uni whilst learning to mix. He’s now making progress with his DJ sets and building his skills with his own productions and edits. His recent shows include a set at @coalesce_festival in Wales and joining the @warpedevents crew in Manchester for their weekly Wednesday takeovers at XLR.

A dynamic and electrifying artist who thrives on the energy of live performances. With a magnetic presence and a passion for drum and bass, Elicit is a force to be reckoned with.

Hailing from Roscommon, Elissa has been immersed in the world of music from a young age. Her journey as an artist began on stage singing and dancing at musicals and has since evolved to include dancing for the wonderful music group PrYmary Colours and DJing as Elicit. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Enei, Bou, and Ben Snow, Elicit is on a mission to unleash only the filthiest and most exhilarating tunes to her audience.

Elicit continues to push herself to take on new and exciting challenges such as playing livestreams on Manchester's Bloc2Bloc and playing live at Open Deck sessions in Dublin.

A Sub Culture are a Cork based collective who specialise in all things D&B, Neurofunk, Jungle, Breaks and Bassline. They are a crew made up of both DJ’s & MC’s and are known for their wild club nights throughout Cork!
On this month’s instalment of the show, we have one of the collective’s residents Steam Lite representing the collective.

Introducing Steam Lite, a Drum and Bass maestro igniting dance floors since 2014. Inspired by hip-hop, he blends genres from breaks to Neurofunk, Jungle, and Liquid D&B. Emerging from the heart of Dublin’s gradually growing electronic music scene, The award-winning DJ/Producer Josh Coakley is one of the most underrated DJs on the international circuit and is one of those selectors blessed with the ability to really tell a story. He is extremely versatile in what he plays and creates and loves experimenting with sounds, loops and pushes boundaries with his music and performances. B-Origin is a Drum & Bass DJ/Producer from Dublin. He started mixing in 2010, developing a love for Dubstep, amidst its popularity in those years.

After DJ’ing for several years at gigs and festivals, eventually got into producing music and found a new love for Drum & Bass, along with similar faster tempo based music styles.

After a debut release alongside SteppA on inHabit Recordings, has now released further tracks on Boey Audio, Sixteen Step Records and Rollout Records. You can catch B-Origin spinning high energy sets with plenty of tear-out basslines and ragga licks throughout.

Co-founder of Rise Dublin, a collective which will be bringing some club nights to Dublin in 2024, along with a label to push the sound of the night.

PRONTO is a DJ and producer based out of Dublin, specialising in techno and D&B and is also the cofounder of @alienatedublin.

Nebulah is a D&B DJ originally from France and now based in Dublin. She has played in many clubs throughout Ireland and also festivals such as Fuinneamh and Electric Picnic.

A DJ for the dancers, Dalba is the alter ego to Ireland’s music fairy, Anima. While you can expect to hear all and any good music from Anima on the Irish airwaves between Dublin and Belfast, expect only heavy, hard and hectic beats from Dalba.

She likes it speedy, cheeky, filthy; anything from Ghetto-Tech, Hard Groove and Electro to DnB, Garage and Jungle. As she’s not one for following rules, don’t expect her to stick to any one genre or style.

Glasgow born, Essex bred and now living in Cork, NATMAC is the boss lady of Underground Ovation, founder of the Electronic Music Council and 1 half of club residency OUTLAW’D in Cork. A massive promoter of positive night culture, she joined Free the Night for a discussion around the importance on community at the AVA festival in Belfast, along with recently joining Sunil Sharp and Robbie Kit for a discussion in the Dáil Éireann around the importance of community to support changes in night culture with regards to the licensing bill.

Growing up on Drum and Bass, Garage and Electro, NATMAC gives the nod to a variety of influences. Over the years she explored the depths of house and slowly shifted to darker sides of techno. During the pandemic the downtime brought her right back to her roots. Anything fast paced, a bitta vocal and a cheeky dub, was going into a mix. Since then you can hear the impact of her meandering influences littered in every set.

Expect bouncy relentless energy, plenty of curls and most importantly, her favourite hat!

Originally from South London, the birthplace of drum & bass, Charlie White’s musical journey was ignited by the raw energy of pirate radio stations like Wax FM and Rinse. This early exposure sparked a lifelong passion, shaping his unique and energetic approach to the genre.

He has organised over 70 dnb events in Kherson, Ukraine from 2008 to 2016.
In 2023 JONNIE founded Stage73 dnb crew in Dublin. Since then @stage73.ie organized several events with the focus on mainstream, jump up and liquidfunk dnb and brought a few big names to Dublin:

Acushla is a Dublin based DJ whose grá for club culture and electronic music was forged from her first experiences clubbing in Dublin City and attending music festivals. Since breaking into the scene a year and a half ago she’s played for many local collectives such as Lost, Slither, the Lounge, Gash Collective and the Shed Residents, supporting a number of talented DJs such as Skin on Skin, Mischluft, Bashkaa and Dj Fuckoff to name a few. “Acushla” is an abbreviation of the Irish phrase “a chuisle mo chroí”, a term of endearment referring to something you live for … what makes your heartbeat. A sentiment that reflects perfectly why she started deejaying. Acushla’s sound (like most DJs) is always changing, but mainly focused on ghetto tech, electro, footwork/juke, hard groove, bass, and acid.

Eskay is a DJ, producer, and radio host from Dublin bringing high-energy, genre-blending sets to dancefloors across the city. Since starting out in late 2022, she’s played alongside top Irish talent at some of Dublin’s best venues, delivering a signature mix of house, breaks, tech, deep, and melodic grooves—all with a focus on bouncy, feel-good vibes.

She’s a founding member of THC DJs, co-running the acclaimed Total House Clinic and Blaze parties, and hosts a weekly show on PlayFM Dublin every Tuesday at 6pm, where she champions underground artists and DJs—recently celebrating her 80th broadcast.

Now stepping into her own as a producer, Eskay has already signed tracks to established labels and shows no signs of slowing down

Intervention is a novice to the decks who started DJing in November 2023. He took to them like a natural under the tutelage of the THC crew and is quickly becoming a multi-genre DJ with a love of a good aul hook and meddling with the FX. One of the newer members of THC DJs, Intervention is finding his sound and producing sets that are a mix of funky, jackin house, ukg, and Hard House

C.S. Lewis is a Dublin-based DJ who began his journey behind the decks in 2017. Known for his emotive and genre-spanning sets, he brings energy, feeling, and a deep connection to the music every time he plays.

He has performed at venues such as The Wright Venue, Tengu, Lost Lane, Berlin D2, Button Factory, Pawnshop, and Rio in Ibiza.
C.S. Lewis also has festival appearances at Electric Picnic and Fuinneamh.

Melodic Techno/Deep House mix for the Pirate Studios No Vocals challenge.

I've always found melodic techno to be a nice mix of both attitude and ambiance, so for a challenge that allowed no vocals it seemed like the perfect genre to base the mix off of. 

I really enjoyed putting this together and learned a lot in the process.
