21st Century Soul Boy – Galactic Funk EP (HOTDIGIT 121)

21st Century Soul Boy rockets into space for his debut on Hot Digits with the hyper-drive engaging ‘Galactic Funk EP’ – a superb 4 tracker which rumbles the darkest reaches of nu-disco and house. 

‘Feeling The Vibe’ quickly gets into gear with a sequenced electro-acid funk feel that soon transcends into riotous ‘disco house stomper’ territory. The bass is a pure room filler – with the concoction of synth, smoke and heavy feet on the dancefloor. The blending of cheeky piano riffs and voice samples makes this one an instant new classic. 

We head right into a summer of love festival with the wonderfully anthemic ‘Play That Phunky Music’. 21st Century Soul Boy has absolutely nailed his colours to the mast with this peach of a tune. A pounding, fist-pumping, swirly and retro-cuddled magic mushroom that you can wear like a hat to parties, this promises to dominate charts in the months to come. 

‘Move Your Bodee Bodee’ muscles in as a solid funky electro souffle that continues to rise and rise. The soaring robotic vocal takes this track to the stratosphere where only the piano breakdown can break you out of your trance. Full of pops, beeps and glassy synths, ‘Move Your Bodee Bodee’ is a triumph and a gold star next to 21st Century Soul Boy’s CV. 

When it comes to the wickedly Electro inspired Fingerman Rework of ‘Move Your Bodee Bodee’ all the moves will be breaking out as if you’re in Arthur Baker’s kitchen for breakfast. The intricate working parts in play here combine sublimely to create a truly spectacular electrofunk delight – full of stabby bass, sexed up robotic synth vocals and heavy doses of Roland TR-808 to tickle your armpits. 

The Galactic Funk EP represents a stunning Hot Digits debut from 21st Century Soul Boy, who definitely fits this label like a glove.

His extensive musical career and Nu-Disco Underground with electronic touch style has opened him the doors to some of the most prestigious DJ booths all over the world: Madrid, Mexico City, Ibiza, Tulum, London, Guadalajara, Berlin, San Francisco, Marseille, Jakarta, Barcelona, Milan, Stockholm or Bali, to name a few. 

In all of them, he's shared the stage with some of the most important global representatives of the style like Pete Herbert, Rayko, Thomass Jackson, Ilya Santana, or Ray Mang, making him a veteran of the dance floors.
