String Quartet # 3 Poem : Veils of an Abyssal Darkness

Stars

One of five original twelve-tone pieces, arranged here for string quartet where I explore a relationship with dissonance, the seeming randomness of atonal writing and what might sound pleasing. 

Given the parallels of our socio/economic conditions today to those of the Weimar Period, I wanted to become better acquainted with the writing and artwork of the time as a reaction to what may be considered the conservative romanticism of empire. 

In my original cover art for this EP I also wanted to capture the architectural style of the era.

Rafael Saez - Stars (JNSL Remix)

This was an early draft of a cue for a moment within Ridley Scott's movie, "The Martian". If you know my main theme from that score, you'll recognize it here, but the instrumentation that is used in this demo is in stark contrast to what I ended up with in the final score.
