2000 and One's Best Of Series Vol. 3 (Dubby) Techno

In the past 12 years, Claude Vonstroke’s imprint has grown to three labels (Dirtybird, Dirtybird Select, STX&BRX), a publisher (Ponies & Cavemen), an event and touring company, and a subscription service (Birdfeed). As of this year, they have expanded their west coast Campout to the east coast, with Dirtybird Campout East taking flight in St. Petersburg, Florida, February 2–4. Inevitably as Dirtybird grew and innovated, a few projects fell by the wayside, like its techno label, Mothership. It has been, however, an enviously positive trajectory that seems likely to continue in 2018.

A very special selection this week, as most of these tracks where played at ‘warehouse’ parties around Amsterdam and Rotterdam in the early 90’s.
It was considered to heavy and/or not cool for regular clubs, like for example The Roxy, It, Night Town, Waakzaamheid and De Richter.
This style evolved into ‘Gabber House’ in The Netherlands, as for The UK it was the foundation of Drum and Bass / Jungle.

2000 and One's Best Of Series Vol. 4 (Underground) Rave Classics 1990-1992

Drumcode favourite Bart Skils kickstarts the new year with his sixth EP for the label Bark Skils opens new year's season with his 6th hard hitting EP released on Drumcode

Since his debut on Drumcode in 2012, Bart Skils has been one of the label’s most regular contributors, with the Dutchman’s brand of functional, hook-driven techno a go-to weapon for Adam Beyer; from his stellar ‘Shadowprint’ EP in 2014, to last year’s classy remix of Moby’s ‘Go’. One of The Netherland’s hardest working ambassadors for techno, he is the organiser of the beloved Voltt Love Summer Festival that’s has been a favourite of Beyer’s for many years. 

His latest work for Drumcode, ‘Bells of the Revolution’ continues his impeccable reputation for quality with everything he does, with four cuts all with their own distinct storyline. The title track is characterised by dark driving grooves and bubbling acid line that slowly evolves into a lush melodic riff. ‘Ocean Drive’ nose-dives into deeper techno territory, while maintaining a sense of exquisite tension throughout. ‘Vocalized’ follows, a stomping acid techno cut that slides into the deep courtesy of skilfully programmed vox and elegant licks of melody. The EP concludes with ‘Retrodade’, a track that’s been one of the biggest in Beyer’s sets in 2017 and features the famous vocal from Rozalla’s ‘Everybody’s Free’. The sample was used with kind permission from the iconic ‘90s singer.

Sven Tasnadi was born in Leipzig 1978. He came in contact with electronic music early on. In the early 90´s he witnessed the advent of electronic music in Germany, subsequently began to go clubbing more frequently and eventually in 1995 started deejaying himself. Via Acid and Chicago Sounds he found his way towards minimal sounds over the years. Sven’s career shows an amazing development up to the turn of the millennium, from gigs at the well-known Tresor to resident nights at two local techno clubs.

In late 2005 Sven got to know Daniel Stefanik and Matthias Tanzmann from Moon Harbour. From that then developed close friendship originated his first vinyl release – in summer 2006 those two produced the Cargo Edition 003. Months later, Daniel felt confident about Sven’s productions and thus Cargo 004 – “El Fuego de dentro” was all his.

Svens first releases caught the attention of Hamburg record labels like Liebe*Detail and Smallville. The release on Smallville grabs the attention of cocoon head Sven Väth. He plays the Track“ waiting for you“ on Ibiza and enjoys it so much that he licences it for his annual „The Sound of“ series.

In April 2010 he had his first release on cocoon recordings with the track „Nordsee“ a split ep together with Markus Fix.
