Various Aliens / Fifth Contact – 5th Anniversary

To celebrate the fifth anniversary of our label, we present Various Aliens / Fifth Contact, a unique compilation that brings together collaborations between the founder and 15 artists from different corners of the world.

The name plays with the idea of “VA” (Various Artists), transformed into “Various Aliens” as a metaphor for that creative diversity that seems to come from other dimensions.

Fifth Contact refers both to the number 5 of our anniversary and, at the same time, evokes the notion of an extraterrestrial encounter beyond imagination: a connection that transcends borders, styles, and languages—a cosmic meeting through music.

The result is a sonic journey of abstract textures, dark minimalism, and interplanetary energy that reflects the essence of the label and its global network of collaborators.

Hamburg based duo Discoschorle teams up with Solar Plane from Istanbul for the first release on the new label The Plot Music. The label describes itself with the words "no borders – no limits, just about music“ and will cover all kind of electronic music: from deep house to techno. The 4-tracker "When words leave off, music begins here.“ contains 2 originals of Discoschorle & Solar Plane plus 2 remixes of Belgian producer Hermanez. We got the premiere of his techno treatment of "Flawless System“.

Lucky number thirteen on San Francisco's @Manjumasi comes from label co-founder Atish. Following hot on the heels of last year's solo debut "Peculiar Colors," Atish returns to the label in fine form with a trio of collaborations. Each named after an amphibian or reptilian creature, the three tracks showcase Atish's musical range.

First up is Bullfrog, produced together with fast-rising German talent @timengelhardt. A chunky percussive bass groove drifts over liquid smooth lily-pads, laying a foundation for the quirky, croaking synth riff that makes the track's heady hook. Second on the package is Chameleon, a collaboration with label co-founder @mcslee. This one is a driving melodic groover that oscillates between musical colors, with a light floating pad melody and slip-sliding glissando synth playing counterpoint to edgy stabs. Rounding out the package is Tortoise, a team effort with SF talent @bengalsf. Like the animal, this tune is slow-moving and wise, demonstrating strength through patience in the form of a groove that gently meanders and builds with rich detail.
