Introducing: Deep Barrels, a new online mix series by Studio Aurora  🌐🍷🔊

It's finally time to bring to light a project that has been stuck as a work in progress for almost 5 years. Before I even had an idea for Alimentari Aurora, my desire to connect the dots between all my friends was to create a party that merged eclectic sounds, wine, and the vibe of a Sunday day party. Then the pandemic hit, and that early enthusiasm was shelved. But the vision never disappeared—it just waited for the right outlet.

Now, with Alimentari Aurora nearing its 5-year anniversary, and after countless beautiful Aurora sessions with Fault Radio (who now shares a roof with us at Studio Aurora), it feels like the perfect moment to bring that vision to life.

Deep Barrels is an online mix series featuring old and new friends from around the world who can’t physically play at Studio Aurora, whose sound, spirit, and sensibility fit right in. To launch the series, I reached out to someone I first connected with years ago via Instagram, only to find out we shared a constellation of mutual friends. One of those rare friendships that feels instantly real.

Meet Enrica Borsatto aka Sandra Mason: 

Venetian-born digger now based in Rome, Enrica's sets weave deep psychedelia and offbeat melodies into rich, transportive experiences. I first came across her selections through friends Ani Phoebe and the duo Frinda di Lanco/Henna Stein. Enrica runs the “Cocktail Naïf” YouTube channel, a hidden gem of obscure and forgotten music, and she’s also the mind behind "Horny Music for Ambient People" (with Marco Caizzi) and contributor to the trippy “Yoga & Droga” series with LKSMN (Pietro Rianna)—both on the ever-eclectic Radio Raheem (Milan). She is also half of the ambient duo Fondazione, formed together with author Francesco Pacifico. Her selections move fluidly between clubs and independent spaces, with regular appearances at Fanfulla, Magick Bar, and across Rome’s underground circuit.

I asked Enrica to open the Deep Barrels series, and she sent a 3-hour live B2B with Marco Ragni—recorded in Italy last January.

Marco Ragni is an Italian DJ and producer with deep roots in the scene: a longtime resident at Serendipity Club, for several years part of the duo Plants Army Revolver and now active as one half of the Absira project with Spanish artist ABSIS. His sound blends ambient, downtempo, tribal, bass, and techno through a lens of psychedelic rhythms and hypnotic textures. His path has also included running the now-closed record store Mondo Musique in Foligno, contributing to Berlin’s Melantónia Collective, and being one of the minds behind Sintesi Festival.

This is the most brainiac and soulful mix I could have hoped for—an ideal opening statement for the Deep Barrels spirit.
