Sounds of Lava Lava welcomes Darker Than Wax staple Halal Sol for their fourth release.  The Singaporean artist gained acclaim with his 2021 production debut on DTW which pulled in influences from House, Techno and Trance.  The rising DJ & Producer continues his fine run of form with two club-ready cuts drenched in classic House sounds.

With his title track ‘How Many’ Halal Sol lays down a raw and fun House track.  Weighty kicks, crunchy percussion, chopped vocals and sub-heavy bass stabs give a driving energy to this cut right from the start.  As the track draws you further in, warm pads swirl around lush vocals and squelching synth lines giving a perfectly balanced peak time groove.

On the B Side, ‘Cussing is Bad’ is a bright and uplifting nod to Chicago House.  Shuffling percussion breaks up the classic 4/4 groove and skips alongside a bouncing plucked bass line.  Muffled interview samples, shimmering keys and airy pads combine to create a euphoric track which blends 90’s House influences with modern production sensibilities.

Joining forces from adjacent areas musically as well as geographically, Township Rebellion and Marc Holstege each contribute two resounding original cuts. The German producer collective initiates side A with Aphrodite, a spacious and majestic construction that pieces together uplifting synth arrays with a brooding bassline and an overall elevating groove. A slice of near-symphonic dub tech that elates and captivates at the same time. Gaia comes in progressively, kicking in with a stripped down bassline only to escalate into a full on body mover, powered by grave synths and pensive leads. Boomy percussion lays the base for industrial pads to amp up the highs, reinforcing the somber atmosphere. Holstege’s premier offering, ‘Mangata’ unfolds sequentially, as the producer pairs a deep, melodic intro ridden with celestial chords to a sunken kick drum and metallic percussion. Strings and harmony make up the main pillars of ‘Sonorous’, used to craft a melancholic and mesmeric deeep tech exploration. Warped synths announce a tense buildup, ultimately reverting to the overtone of the initial string motif.

Kotelett & Zadak are coming around the block with a magnum bottle full of french fries in their bag. 
Where the two actually originate, nobody knows for sure. Rumors have it that they once had a common love for sprat fishing and point their fateful meeting to somewhere on the North German Coast.If you believe the various rumors, Zadak lost his pants in a raid by the Department of Fish and Game, while Kotelett, due to an overdose of moonshine, lost his Boating License. Both lost their Fishing Licenses and, whoops!, there went their livelihood...What was left for them to do but abscond to the interior, a bleary-eyed and shady escape to where no one knew them by name. "From now on ...." one of the two is said to have mumbled into his beard; which one is still not known. All in all it was a perfectly logical development, since the nights were rough anyway and the lamest things always ended up in the Net...if all catfish are gray.And so, control rod was quickly exchanged with controller, stroke side with backspin, and fog horn with fog machine. What was formerly filleted, is now being filtered, what was being caught, is now pitched. Since then they have never again scrubbed the decks, but instead record from them.Now, wherever they drop their anchor: there blows a strong bass-breeze, sound waves rise and no shot glass remains dry. Every Mermaid has exchanged her ingenue for a good pair of dance shoes and goes crazy from the unmistakable sound of the two self-acclaimed Club- Irish. Whosoever doesn't hold tight to the bar will be swept away like the sprats in the net.Even after days-long sets and a potently boozy fee, a glance into the crowd of faces, tanned by the thick club air, reveals all: Kotelett and Zadak remain uncompromised and bring together that which belongs together - music and magic moments. (The Department of Fish and Game would like to add: "We are simply happy to be rid of them.")

Called INSTANT fryhide, it will see one special, much talked about track get an instant release with no promo, premiers or press announcements in advance. There will be no schedule for releases and it will see music put out as fast as possible whenever there is a track that suits the concept. The first one comes from ARTBAT aka Ukrainian pair Artur and Batish. Says HOSH himself… "As you know fryhide comes from the German word 'Freiheit' meaning 'freedom'. With INSTANT fryhide we go a step further and really want to have this freedom of releasing whenever we feel like. We call upon new talent for our fifth 12" release, a four track EP that also includes a remix from Dexter. The Leeds-based producer is set to blow up in 2010, having announced his arrival last month with the “Your Words Matter” 12" on Aus Music, a collaboration with pal Ramadanman. “Play The Game” begins moodily, Midland setting the scene with deep dub-chords before letting rip with a beautifully controlled breakbeat and a warm,insistent bassline. When the doleful string-pads arrive you know you're dealing with an anthem, and the intensity continues to rise as yearning, ethereal vocal snippets a la Burial, Pangaea or Joy Orbison skirt of the rhythm's surface. The track is a masterclass in building tension, with a succession of nail-biting builds giving way to subtle but devastating drops, and in this Midland shows uncommon maturity for such a young producer.On the remix front we find Holland's one and only Dexter. Fresh from “Redbox” – on Steffi’s Dolly imprint, Dexter completely reinvents “Play The Game”, turning out a finished product that really doesn't sound like anything else out there right now. Driven by a warped, distorted bassline that recalls the hoover sound of 90s Belgium and Kevin Saunderson in his pomp, teamed with dramatic strings, old-school percussion and positively oceanic breakdowns, it's big-room, electro-inflected techno of the highest order.“Leitmotif” finds Midland exploring an even deeper techno style, strengthening the groove with spectral FX and panning, dubbed-out percussion, and then scything it in half with a buzzing, trance-inducing bassline - this one has 'secret weapon' written all over it, primed for the club but with a pleasingly introspective quality as well. 'Head Down' continues his penchant for melodic, echo-drenched chords and disembodied vocal textures, this time riding an irresistibly skippy 4/4 rhythm. The record has received great feedback with djs across the board getting on different tracks from Ellen Allien, Laurent Garnier, Jimpster, Richie Hawtin, Deetron, Ramadanman and many more.
