ハウス、テクノ、 エレクトロ、ジャングルなどレイブ・カルチャーを背景とした90年代のダンス・ミュージックを参照としながら更新を続ける現行のシーン、　その一方でインダストリアルなるモードによってエレクトロニック・ミュージックがよりノイズやミュージック・コンクレートなどよりアブスラクトな方向性を指し示す中、 ハウスをテクノのミニマル・フォーマットへと落とし込みサンプリング・ミュージックの開拓者としてエレクトロニック・ミュージック史にその名を刻む鬼才Jan Jelinekの別名儀、Farbneの12年ぶりとなる最新作が登場。 00年代初頭より〈Esel〉、〈Out To Lunch〉、〈Background〉などからリリース、同時期に数々の名義で活動していたミニマル・ハウス の異才 Dennis Busch こと James DIN A4 の過去作品 をリミックスした本作。自身のレーベル〈Faitiche〉からリリースしている初期電子音楽 / ライブラリー・ミュージックなどアンビエント / コラージュ作品の音像と質感はそのままに、繊細な電子音とビートを織り交ぜ、Farben らしい切り口のオーガニックなサンプリング・ループの手法でオリジナルの作風を壊すことなく再構築した、実験的なミニマル・ミュージックとダンス・ミュージックを絶妙な塩梅で繋いだサイケデリックに幻惑的な“揺らぐ”ミニマル・ハウスへと仕上がっています。

▼ ファーベン・ バイオグラフィー  

1999年に Gramm 名義でデビュー。類い稀なるセンスとスキルでクリック  / ミニマル・ハウスの金字塔を打ち建て、 00年代初頭 ヨーロッパを中心に巻き起こった一代ムーヴメント、エレクトロニカの代表格となり、電子音響とダンス・ミュージックの文脈でも語られる、ベルリンの鬼才 Jan Jelinek による別名儀 Farben (ファーベン: 色彩) 。 シーンの核であった〈〜Scape〉よりリリースされた『Loop Finding Jazz』(2001)はジャズをソースとした電子音楽のサンプリングに革命をもたらした名盤として語り継がれ、そのスタイルを変えることなく Computer Soup や Masayoshi Fujitaといった日本人アーティストともコラボレーションを重ねながら00年代電子音楽のシーンにおいて不動の地位を築く。2008年に自身のレーベル〈Faitiche〉(ファイチー)を立ち上げ、 Ursula Bogner や G.E.S など新たなるプロジェクトを始動。2010年には Farben としての復活作となるEPをリリース、 クラウト・ロック〜コスミッシェ〜テクノまでドイツ電子音響に受け継がれるシリアスかつコミカルなユーモアを継承し、PCミュージック以降のサンプリングを基調としたミニマルやコラージュ作品で現代におけるミュージック・コンクレートを黙々と開拓する生粋の電子作家。

I call it "Baustelle," which is German for "Construction Site."

Farben - As Long As There's Love Around

Savvas Ysatis is no stranger to electronic music. With experience dating back to the early nineties, the Greek producer has released more than a few tracks under various names. ‘Fade To Black’ is his latest release, already featured on the Body Language Volume 16 compilation mixed by Francesco Tristano, the track has now gotten the remix treatment from Camea and P41.   First up we get Camea’s take on things. She gives the percussion an organic touch while keeping a distinctly mechanical vibe via the raw synthwork. Tension builds with the synths and is counter balanced with warm pads as the percussion chugs along below. P41 keeps things deep and dark, wandering near dub-tech territory with the synthworth, yet strictly techno as far as percussion is concerned. Of course we include the original as well, with its up-tempo hustle and dirty atmosphere. A properly executed track that keeps the tension thick and the energy rising.
