About The Author
Frances Flannery holds an M.Phil in Creative Writing from Trinity College Dublin, and a first-class honours H.Dip in Business and E-Commerce from The National College of Ireland. This is her first fictional novel. She currently lives in Dublin.

In her life, Sandra Losty has witnessed the devastation of suicide, death and alcoholism. Her childhood was one of chaos and tragedy aided by her father’s schizophrenia, her mother’s poor health and both parents’ frequent admissions to hospital. When she was ten years old, she lost both her Father and her Sister in a domestic violence tragedy so shocking that it made headline news nationwide.  She carried the guilt and shame of her Father’s death into her adult life because of a throw away gesture related to a final act of affection by her father - a last kiss that she childishly brushed off her young cheek. As an adult, the weight of suppressed feelings and grief pushed her down the dark tunnel of alcoholism and she came to know the horror and despair of addiction at rock bottom and the subsequent soaring joy of recovery. Since then, she has worked with alcoholics, methadone users and the homeless and now helps others tie the knot as a legal wedding celebrant. During Covid19 she is giving her time to the organisation of online alcohol addiction recovery meetings every day for others who may be struggling and is fighting to remove the stigma that recovered addicts face. Here she tells her story.
Anyone is welcome to join the online addictions zoom meetings run by Sandra and all types of addiction is supported. The community is #recoveryposse and it  is an online open space where people can let off stream and get feelings off their chest. 
During Covid, online meetings are everynight at 8pm. Womens meeting on Wednesday 6.45pm.

Sandra Losty - A Story of Alcohol Recovery

In a world where the unexpected is the only thing to expect,  The Mary Wallopers by TPM are a concept band using a blend of self-transformation, humour, characterisation and music to challenge the listener to wake up and stay awake. When this Dundalk Trio bust a rhyme, we bust a rib laughing. Effortlessly, their music mirrors the hilarity of life and shows us who we are by profiling parts of society that we all know. From ‘All the Boys on the Dole ‘ to Dublinereque pint swillers in Aran jumpers, TPMs refreshing characterisation of life brings an element of philosophy to their music. They are craic meisters but they are deeper than that. Everything about them is individual including their own image branding and sound all of which they control themselves and refuse to conform to. With song titles like  Fuck RTE, God Bless England and lyrics such as “I don’t have a Job but I have a soul”, they somehow make us feel better about the chaos in our own world. Being alternative is OK. Being an individual is ok and re-creating ourselves is ok.  It can even be fun if we take it lightly, be inventive and let things unfold as they will, as they do.  
The Mary Wallopers are TPMs latest creation. They have timed their coming very well and arrive just when we are challenging our global value system. TPMs latest creation are trad musicians. “Don’t Get Married. Drink Pints Instead” in jest  but the message runs deep and stems from their own lives growing up in a home where inventiveness was encouraged and where the brainwashing of religion and politics was turned down.
