I made this song from a poem my father wrote.

Estantes e livros, livros e estantes.
Alguns mal lidos. Muitos por ler.
Nunca bastantes para entender.

Livros comprados, livros vendidos,
livros trocados, livros roubados, livros perdidos,
nunca bastantes, milhões que fossem, para compreender.
Livros cansaço, livros poeira,
livros engano da vida inteira,
livros muleta, livros falso braço...
Quantos eu dera! 
Quantos eu dera por um vero traço
dessa verdade tão traiçoeira
que, por entre os meus dedos, sempre se esgueira...

First-Time Traveler

Unintended Consequences

I didn’t have to go there, I was not the first in line
As the only one left standing then the mission became mine
So I’m away on business staying over just one night
Another  trip to nowhere  just a routine business flight

But there were
Unintended consequences 
Unpredicted outcomes
Unanticipated endings
Unexpected love    Repeat

Nothing would have happened if I’d had an early night 
A minibar, a movie before turning out the light 
But boredom drives adventure and with expectations low 
When I hit a club at midnight, there was nowhere else to go

But there were...

And that’s  when I first saw her, my eyes bounced across the floor
She met my gaze before too long we headed through the door
Thunderbolts and Lightening, I was blinded by the light
I didn’t see this coming when I headed out that night

In the morning then she told me that she had to leave her man
And he’s the bossman's homie so we had to have a plan
So we fled to Costa Rica where we thought he wouldn’t  come
Laying low in Tortuguero for our new life on the run

But there were...

But he followed us through Mexico, through Nicaragua too
He tracked us down in wind and rain, we thought that we were through
But there were thunderbolts and lightning he was blinded by the light
He didn’t see it coming and his luck ran out that night

And there were...
