The ‘Lunar Eclipse EP’ is the newest blood child of musical organism FRANGIE, the Stockholm collective of three friends Adriana, Francisco and Fredrik. The trio combine their own languid twist of Scandi disco and funk that saw their debut self-titled EP ‘Frangie’ find its way pulsating through Swedish National Radio and beyond, played by French music connoisseur Delicieuse Musique, spun by Nemone on the BBC Radio Electric Ladyland show, as well as a premier of "Don't text me" on XLR8R.

A record modeled off the sighting of a lunar eclipse, the repeated mantra "the sun, earth and moon aligned", became “a collective blessing, a bittersweet connection, giving our session a timeless memory...” Dripping with effortless groove and summer nostalgia, the four-tracker contains an essential spark of connectivity felt when they planted the seed for the songs one summer night. Opener ‘Lunar Eclipse’ revels in unstoppable funk with soul-soaked vocals. Next is the warm ‘Antumbra’ which is encased in a dreamy funk blanket with all the essential groove ingredients we'd expect from FRANGIE, followed by synth bop ‘Umbra’. Closer is the electro twister ‘The Fear’ featuring remixer act Imaginary Hair, the future forward production trio composed of Johanna Beckman, Johan Staaf and Andreas Aavik, dipping into the neo-psychedelic atop a trippy bass.

Released on the independent Taiga Riviera imprint, which favours a free-flowing approach absent of genre, whilst encapsulating a “Sad and Happy” mood of the magical, mysterious Swedish summers. ‘Lunar Eclipse EP’ stands as an emblem of disco warmth in the deep mid-winter.

Label Missing Letters is proudly releasing a remix EP with FRANGIE following up their  debut, which was released earlier this year. Now they’ve invited a variation of befriended DJ’s and producers to repaint the tracks with their special love for the dance floor.   FRANGIE initiates the remix EP with their own introspective lo-fi deconstruction of Love, Your Friend. In Samo DJ and J. Skugge’s version of the same track, an infectious bassline meets ambient pads to create a spaced out dub experience. An experience that resonates with Bella Boo’s mystical rework of jazzy DDML, where trippy chords and melodies transcends into a different dimension. Bella most recently contributed with the track boyboy to compilation album Studio Barnhus Volym 1. Underground DJ-duo HK have gradually been building a reputation for their live hardware jams at clubs and raves around Stockholm. Discover their dusty, groovy sounds in their remix of Don’t text me. DJ and producer Kimchii brings you to an afternoon backyard party with his funky guitar licks and groovy bassline. Four tracks, four stories, four life affirming trips that tickle dance music’s most velveteen and dusky quarters, once again FRANGIE paint a new reality. They ease us in gently with the smoky jazzy house of ‘We Vibe’. Giving off heady feels like a late 90s DJ Gregory or Nathan Haynes cut, it smoulders with groove finesse. The dreamy journal continues as we slink up a gear and swim in the mirrorball shimmers of ‘Rice & Beans’. Upbeat yet unhurried, laced with equal splashes of funk colour and ethereal shade, it’s like WhoMadeWho just booked Little Dragon at their house party… 

More causes for dancefloor contemplation follow… Weighing in at 11+ minutes the endless twists and turns of ‘Opak Silence’ are the disco equivalent of a lucid dream; illuminating, familiar yet out of this world. Swedish disco trio FRANGIE revisit last year’s ‘Rice & Beans’ with this exceptional version trove. Four of the five remixes are locally sourced and each one of them hits the dancefloor target.

Newcomer Storken, fresh from his Running Back debut, delivers full-on electro pop reverie in the form of his remix of ‘Opak Silence’. Reducing the epic 11 minute original into a Yazoo-level thrill-fest, it’s all about the energy, soul and lavish, vibrant synths.

Storken is joined by more exciting Swedish new-generation leaders; Tora Vinter adds to her growing body of work on BROR with an evocative, synth-lapped proggish take on ‘Rice & Beans’ while Parallax Deep’s infamous live vibe can be felt in every inch of her stripped-back twist of ‘Opak Intro’ with rolling, rippling undulating twists and stacks of minimal tension.

Deeper into the EP we glide… Rub N Tug’s Eric Duncan is the perfect choice to remix ‘Night Time’ as he tears it down and rebuilds it with an overwhelming disco fatness, additional live drums by Rafi Muhammad that pumps hypnotically and drops into those divine funk chords of the original.

The release is shut down by one of the biggest Swedish legends in our discourse: Joel Mull. Taking ‘We Vibe’ and turning it completely inside out with thundering kicks, dubby synth washes and microscopic details lurking in all the right spaces, Joel takes us so deep into his cave we’re almost out the other side. FRANGIE is a musical organism assembled and rooted in Stockholm. The self-titled debut EP ”Frangie" was released in April 2018 and quickly got picked up by the refreshing electronic show P3 med Samir Yosufi on Swedish National radio and French music connoisseur Delicieuse Musique l Official Playlist. Later that year the song "Don’t Text Me" was featured on Spotify's playlist Metropolis. 

The debut took the band out of the studio and up on stage. From Amsterdam Dance Event to Skankaloss in Gagnef, Dalarna and further to the Nobel Prize After party. In May 2019, the sequel Rice & Beans came with a powerful disco sound, strongly rooted in modern dance music. Opening track "We Vibe" was played by Francois K on his show "World of Echoes" on Worldwide FM: "It feels as if this thing might just get picked up by some major brand on some advert and become a worldwide hit."

In the fall of 2018 FRANGIE teamed up with friends Bella Boo, Kimchii, Samo DJ and HK for The Remixes that gained support from artists like Blond:ish, Anja Schneider and Joris Voorn. Their latest release includes new remixes by exciting Swedish talent Storken, Tora Vinter and Parallax Deep, one native legend Joel Mull and Disco Don Eric Duncan - delivering a unique variety of minimal, techno and cosmic reworks.
