Blush aims to help soothe the queer spectrum and focus on the well-being of the community. Queer DJs are invited to submit a mix to showcase an alternative side to their music library outside of a rave and take us on a meditative journey. ✨

"What a treat to move out of the club realm & record this mix. This is definitely a different side to me as an artist. You can expect a plethora of dreamy arp melodies, emotive chords, ambient textures, abstract sounds & down tempo grooves. I’m just back from a trip to Amsterdam actually & I was in a super cool, chill, crystal, mushroom type shop with a smoking area looking over the water. I definitely channeled that trippy spirit into this mix, I hope you feel it & enjoy"

Gina started making a name for herself as a DJ in 2009, kicking off as a SpeedQueen Resident in Leeds and quickly growing to international debuts around the world, from NYC, Berlin, and Ibiza all the way to Paris, Lyon, Croatia, and Helsinki. She has supported some of the most well-respected artists in the industry: Erol Alkan, Nightmares on Wax, Denis Sulta, Prosumer & Eats Everything to name a few. More recently, she is a Resident DJ at HomoElectric & Manchesters biggest queer festival, HomoBloc, plus a firm favourite at the The Warehouse Project. 

Every element of her productions are deliberate, an ode to all the influences that have shaped and continue to shape her. Gina has racked up releases on well respected labels over the years, Classic Music Company, System Records, Defected & Edible Records to name a few. 

When you walk into her events, you’ll be captivated by the energy, music, and soul that is woven in between every percussive element, raw rhythm, and unapologetic groove. You’ll lose yourself to a marriage of house, disco, techno, acid and everything in between.

The third release on Derek Russo’s own Broad Channel imprint “Special Occasion" EP arrives loaded with a wide palate of club swagger for any hour of the party. “Celestial Machine” is the A1 rough and rumbling trip, steered by a wiggly SH101 bass line and anchored by a thunderous sub bass and tenacious, rattling percussion. A floating pad briefly takes the edge off before lurching back. The sounds here are inspired and shaped by the aching cacophony of city life. “Yearning 4 Love” marries a Detroit inspired motif, with tasteful synth layering and bouncy, off-kilter drum programming. The result is an inquisitive banger, something different for the modern dance floor.

On the flip side, the title track ‘Special Occasion’ drops the tempo to a chugging rhythm that swings from a funky break tucked underneath. Deranged piano chords open up to a sinister synth line, jangling guitar and a thick 80s bass line. The final track “Planet Sunset” closes out this EP with a soaring, introspective synth floating on top of a rolling breakbeat groove, disco fed bass work and Juno stabs that resolves into a wave of oozy pad chords - a sure piece for the late night discerning dance floor.

Kerosine was introduced to the midwest underground via Intellephunk parties in late 2013. Since then, he’s thrown parties under the monikers Source and Stay in Crew in Fargo, ND, and started collaborative online publication @flyoversound in 2021. He enjoys spinning the deeper and dubbier side of house and techno, striving to differentiate from the abrasive and dissonant.

'Precinct' is a new venture from 3am Recordings' boss, Al Bradley, and fellow vinyl DJ, Steve Lipscombe aka Inspired Sounds, where the two DJs will be hosting parties at venues across Leeds and beyond. Having been DJing together for a number of years at each other's events, it seemed only right that the two joined forces. This mix is a 2 & half hour vinyl mix from Al, using predominantly records released in the last couple of years, along with some older bits added too, which echoes how both Al and Steve DJ at their gigs. Hopefully this mix will float your boat & if you want to catch the next 'Precinct' party in Leeds, head to the always-excellent 212 on Sat May 11th for a 7-hour vinyl session :)
