This is a rewrite of one of the first pieces of music I ever wrote, dedicated to my favorite Bible verse. However, recently James "Jim" Gray, a member of the Wesley Foundation family passed away earlier this week on Tuesday, December 16th, 2014. In honor of Jim, I dedicate this piece to him. 

He was a quiet man, and incredibly kind to anybody who wanted to strike up a conversation with him. He was incredibly smart, a man of God, and always had something new he could teach you. It's a shame I didn't get to know him better. Jim, you will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to his family, and I know he's in a better place.

„SPIRITS ON EARTH“ Is a special Song which shaped out in collaboration with my dear friend Ivan Torrent and features some of the most talented musicians and friends I know. 

The intention of this musical journey is to support a unique and valuable School project, and I have had the great opportunity to accompany its process over the last years.
Kusi Kawsay is an indigenous pilot school located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Pisaq, Peru. Run by a traditional community, the intention is to preserve and recover the immense knowledge and traditions of the Andean Quechua culture and to link it to modern society. The UNESCO awarded Kusi Kawsay as a spiritual world heritage site because of its cultural importance and for protecting a living human legacy.

I want to thank to all the great artistic support I have received for this release!!

The Fight Begins

Franklin Robert Sartain (b. 1993) is a recent graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University (SFASU) with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Composition. While at SFASU, he studied with Dr. Stephen Lias, Dr. Charles Halka, and Dr. Maria Grenfell. He also graduated from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) in Houston, Texas in 2012. At HSPVA, he studied trumpet perfor​​mance. Frank was a member of the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Big Band Ensemble and Jazz Combo programs.

Frank developed his interest in composing while enrolled at HSPVA during his freshman year. He composed numerous pieces during high school including three of which were performed in front of live audiences by fellow musicians. His musical influences are Johann Sebastian Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Lorne Balfe, Louie Gray Beats, Ludwig van Beethoven, Deadmau5, Claude Debussy, Two Steps from Hell, James Newton Howard, Scott Joplin, Matt Maher, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Mark Petrie, Valentine Produc​​tions, Steve Reich, Igor Stravinsky, Pyotr llyich Tchaik​​ovsky, Brian Tyler, Harry Gregso​​n-Wil​l​iams, and Hans Zimmer.

His interests in composition include teaching and composing for film, trailers, video games, television, and commer​​cials.

Frank is a member of NACUSA (The National Association of Compos​​ers/U​S​A) where several of his compos​​itions have been played on their Web Radio Playlist. His piece, My Desire, was selected to be performed at the NACUSA National Conference 2013, and has been performed numerous times at SFASU. Maria and The Bear and To The Death were used in the 2013 SFA Downstage Theatre production Wit. His piano trio, Family Vacation Gone Wrong was premiered at one of the final concerts of California Summer Music in July. On November 21st, his composition Epic Journey for trombone and piano was be premiered in London as part of the Brand New Music for Winds concert.

Frank spent a semester studying abroad in Hobart, Australia at the Conser​​vator​i​um of Music (Con), part of the University of Tasmania with Dr. Maria Grenfell (UTAS). He recently had a piece for piano four hands and drum set premiered as well as an orchestral work at the Con at UTAS. Also, his tune, Livin' In Paradise was played during a gig at Source Community Wholefoods, a small market in Hobart. In addition, he won the Flying Start Competition which is hosted by a Tasmanian ensemble known as "Note-​​Auriu​s​".

Outside of composing, he is an Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 549 in the Sam Houston Area Council (Texas) and a Guinness World Record Holder.
