Above & Beyond deliver their first original instrumental track of 2021 with ‘Screwdriver’. Jono, Tony, and Paavo flip the script on their established club sound with this fan-favorite ID from the trio’s sold-out Group Therapy 450 festival in London last September.

Blissful and energetic, ‘Screwdriver’ is a tour through trance build-ups, acid, breakbeat, and 90s-flavored piano house. 

‘Screwdriver’ comes off the back of the announcement that Above & Beyond will partner with Cercle to present a special, intimate Livestream set on top of Piedra del Peñol in Guatape, Colombia.

The trio close out their 2021 tour schedule, which included sold-out shows at The Drumsheds, London, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre, with a date at Brooklyn’s Avant Gardner on December 28. You can also catch the boys at Big Night Live, Boston and Lights All Night Festival, Dallas this festive season. Final release tickets are available now.

Anjunabeats presents new remixes of ‘Almost Home’, the latest joint effort between label founders Above & Beyond and long-term collaborator Justine Suissa.

Jono, Tony, Paavo and Justine have been working together since 2000 when they formed the group OceanLab. In 2008, they released their first and only album ‘Sirens Of The Sea’, a record that has gained near-mythical status among trance fans. More recently, Above & Beyond and Justine have collaborated on club hits like ‘Alright Now’, ‘Cold Feet’ and ‘Another Chance’, and emotive, downtempo records like ‘Little Something’. In 2016, Justine joined Above & Beyond during their sell-out ‘Acoustic II’ tour, which stopped at iconic venues like the Royal Albert Hall in London and The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. 

‘Almost Home’ was released in September 2021, arriving just in time for their Group Therapy 450 milestone show at The Drumsheds London. ‘Almost Home’ has been on frequent rotation across SiriusXM BPM and iHeart Evolution, and has been supported by the likes of The Chainsmokers, Armin van Buuren, and Oliver Heldens.

This latest package combines A&B’s original and deep mixes of ‘Almost Home’ with new reworks from MitiS and Ashibah.

Trained as a classical pianist from a young age, MitiS has been releasing electronic music since 2012. He’s a mainstay on Ophelia Records, releasing two acclaimed studio albums on the label and collaborating with Seven Lions, Crystal Skies, RBBTS and more. His bass-driven rework of ‘Almost Home’ is his first remix on Anjunabeats.

Danish/Egyptian DJ, producer and vocalist Ashibah also makes her debut on the label. Ashibah resides in South America, where’s she’s grown a dedicated following through releases on Defected Records, Spinnin’ Records, Get Physical and more. Her 2020 release ‘Devotion’ on Defected was a high flyer on Beatport, charting in the Top 10.

Above & Beyond release their long-awaited collaboration with anamē, ‘Gratitude’ (feat. Marty Longstaff) on April 14 through Anjunabeats.

This collaboration marks the debut of anamē: a new alias from Swedish hitmaker Marcus Schössow and production partner Thomas Sagstad. 'Gratitude' also marks the return of Sunderland singer-songwriter Marty Longstaff to Anjunabeats, the voice of Above & Beyond's 'Tightrope' and 'Flying By Candlelight'.

Debuted during Above & Beyond's sold-out London festival at The Drumsheds in 2021, 'Gratitude' is both a jubilant vocal ballad and a tough, dancefloor filler. During Above & Beyond's winter tour, which sold nearly 70,000 tickets across the USA, the significance of this record to the group's dedicated fan community was immediately apparent. It has cemented itself as a future classic for Jono, Tony and Paavo, standing alongside some of their best-loved anthems like 'You Got To Go' and 'Thing Called Love'. 

Marcus Schössow's production resumé is extensive: he's collaborated with all three members of Swedish House Mafia, as well as Bassjackers, and has released on Revealed Records, Spinnin', SIZE, Armada and Axtone. 

More commonly found performing under the moniker The Lake Poets, Marty Longstaff rose to prominence with the moving acoustic ballad ‘Shipyards’. The song accompanies the opening credits to the sleeper hit Netflix documentary, ’Sunderland ’Till I Die’.

In the summer of 2013, Above & Beyond performed some of their best-loved songs acoustically as part of a 15-piece band, across four sold out shows at London's famous Porchester Hall which formed the basis of the "Above & Beyond Acoustic" studio album. The album was recorded in the spring and summer of 2013 and features a 24-piece orchestra.

"The acoustic project is a reconnection with the musicians that we were before we met", said Above & Beyond's Tony McGuinness. "The songs have been on an interesting journey to get here because we tend to write in a fairly acoustic way anyway. We don't just stick a bit of vocal over a dance track - that's not how we work. We try to start with a song and it's usually only later down the line that we take certain elements from that song and progress them into a more dancefloor-friendly version".

With Above & Beyond "Acoustic", the group are putting aside their CDJs and lighting rigs to showcase their deeply-rooted musicianship and classical training. A band first and foremost, Above & Beyond are songwriters as much as they are DJs. Working with three singers, a string quartet, harpist, drummer and bassist, Above & Beyond are pushing the boundaries of dance music. Tony McGuinness sings and plays guitar, mandolin and ukulele, Paavo Siljamäki plays the grand piano and cello, and Jono Grant plays the Rhodes piano, guitar and vibraphone.

Meet JODA: a fresh musical pairing with shared DNA. 

Jono Grant and Darren Tate have history. Both together and apart, they have been there, done that and bought the vintage synth gear to celebrate.

Grant is one-third of Above & Beyond who, over the course of a two-decade career, have established themselves as one of the biggest electronic groups in the world. Eight studio albums (including one as vocal trance group OceanLab and two acoustic reworks), 17 compilation albums, a film score and nearing 100 singles speak to an output as varied as it is prodigious. Their label Anjunabeats is home to a bustling community of artists with over twenty years of catalogue.

As a classically trained musician, songwriter, producer and hitmaker, Tate is an OG Top of the Pops-botherer. In the early Noughties, at the outset of his career, he appeared on the show three times, once with Angelic, his collaboration with Judge Jules and the latter’s wife, performing classic trance banger It’s My Turn, then twice under the name Jurgen Vries. The following years saw more musical adventures, more Top 40 UK hits (12 in total) and more pseudonyms, including the trance-facing DT8 Project.

In 2003, the pair managed to sync their schedules to work on a couple of tracks, 'Let The Light Shine In' and 'Nocturnal Creatures'. Clearly, there was chemistry here. But as the pair’s respective careers subsequently took them off round the world in opposite directions, reconnecting other than fleetingly was never easy.

Then in 2019 Tate returned to his trance roots and signed to Anjunabeats for his DT8 Project releases. Around the same time, Above & Beyond received an offer to score an environmental documentary, 'The Last Glaciers'.

“I'm musical, but I've never done a score before, which would be quite an undertaking. And I knew Darren was massively experienced at doing that, and I've always admired what he does in his film work. So my first thought was: why don't we do it with Darren?” 

Jono and Darren got stuck into composing together, and it became a dream project all round ­– not least because it sparked further ideas. So, JODA was born. Working in Tate’s studio in suburban north London, and A&B’s south London HQ, the pair were in a creative bubble during the early days of the pandemic. And the partnership proved fruitful.

It was as if this pair of young-minded veterans were finding themselves all over again. Aptly enough, that fed into 'We Find Ourselves', featuring Grant's own vocals.

“Darren had the idea of using the ARP Odyssey for the bass sound,” explains Grant, “and it sounds very retro. We were listening to stuff like the Drive soundtrack by Kavinsky. So the tempo of the track actually comes from that style of music. We wouldn't have ended up at 110 BPM if it wasn't for listening to that kind of music."

Following in the footsteps of Anjuna superstars Mat Zo, ARTY, ilan Bluestone and Grum, the tenth instalment in the legendary Anjunabeats Worldwide compilation series leads you to the darkest of dance floors; an underground techno and trance trip courtesy of US-based duo Fatum.

Ubiquitous on Anjuna over the last decade in various guises, Bruce Karlsson and Daniel Davis have been responsible for an abundance of catalogue classics.

Bruce was an architect of the electro-tinged grooves that made Norin & Rad a tour-de-force throughout the early 2010s with the likes of ‘Bloom’, ‘Pistol Whip’ and ‘Thundercat’. Dan, crate-digger and intricate melody maker as Judah (w/ Chris Nelson), responsible for the likes of ‘Boss Fight’, ‘Nomad’ and ‘Zero-Day’.

Always found at their best together, Fatum launched as a quartet in 2015 alongside Chad Newbold and the sorely missed Bill Hamel. Boisterous floor fillers ‘Chocolate, ‘Love On A Real Train’ (Tangerine Dream Cover) and ‘All In’ followed, the latter reworked by Above & Beyond in May 2020.

Anjunabeats Worldwide 10 is a 21 track journey championing the past, present and future sound of the label. There are five original productions from Fatum themselves, including collaborations with Jaytech, Mars Atlas, LYCA and re:boot. Mainstays of the Anjunabeats family Mat Zo, Genix, Grum, ALPHA 9 and Sunny Lax are present, while Anjunabeats Rising graduates Naz and Alex Sonata & TheRio have their first outing on a label compilation.

Fatum also bring cult favourites back to the dance floor, reworking Andy Moor and Adam White’s ‘Whiteroom’ and Above & Beyond’s ‘Alone Tonight’ - the sought-after Alexandra Palace remix which first aired nearly a decade ago.

The two time Grammy nominated London-based trio were performing on the summit of the Rock of Guatapé at La Piedra del Peñol Guatapé in Colombia, in a performance for live streaming platform Cercle.

The opening track was ‘Morning In Deira’. Not only was the rippling piano instrumental – a near-six-minute quiet-is-the-new-loud anthem – a freshly written composition from a beloved band, it would also be the flagship song for a new (ad)venture under the Anjuna umbrella; the company founded by Above & Beyond in 2000 to release their music and home to two labels, Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep.

Five months on, ‘Morning In Deira’, backed by another new Above & Beyond song ‘Time Heals’, is the launch release of Reflections. The songs deftly set the tone for this new, third label from the Anjunafamily. 

Reflections will be the home to the South London-based organisation’s ambient, downtempo and alternative catalogue, a fresh imprint that represents the “chill” arm of a suite of labels that are as prolific as they are successful.

Celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, electronic trio Above & Beyond unveiled their club single ‘Reverie’ earlier this summer, featuring long-term collaborator Zoë Johnston.

A fan favourite amongst the Anjunafamily since its debut at Group Therapy 350, ‘Reverie’ found global radio support with the single release (including Sirius XM and iHeart Evolution in the U.S.), editorial support on Spotify, Apple, Amazon and Deezer, and landed straight into the digital record boxes of Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and Gabriel & Dresden. 

Adding a new spin on ‘Reverie’, we welcome Adam Dormand and James Kenneally, aka electronica duo PINES to the label. Hailing from Adelaide, Australia, PINES have built up a dedicated fan base over the past few years, finding support from established electronic stars Kygo and Gryffin, and live showcases at SXSW. 

Heavily inspired by the likes of ODESZA, Tourist, Flume and Bonobo, they released their debut artist album ‘Dreamcycle’ via Sony Music/Palm Tree in May 2020, including breakout singles ‘Tell Me’ and ‘What You Need’. 

With a nod to 90’s downtempo electronica, PINES remix of ‘Reverie’ is out September 21st on Anjunabeats.

Celebrating their twentieth anniversary this year, London’s Above & Beyond unveil another hard-hitting club instrumental: ‘Crash’.

Referred to as the ‘20 Years ID’ by tune trainspotters in our label community, ‘Crash’ was one of six Above & Beyond originals heard on their Anjunabeats Volume 15 compilation, which was released in July of this year. 

The track was created just as the pandemic took hold, ready for summer festival sets that never eventuated. ‘Crash’ was finally given its long awaited live debut in the band’s Group Therapy 400 livestream. The show was recorded on the River Thames, London in late September of this year, just a hop, skip and a jump from the trio’s recording studio in Bermondsey. 

‘Crash’ is out now on Anjunabeats.

GRAMMY-nominated electronic trio Above & Beyond release a long-awaited remix of ‘Sun In Your Eyes’, from California’s Spencer Brown.

Spencer first appeared on Anjunabeats with ‘Wannamaker’ in 2016. His productions blur the lines between deep house, progressive and trance, earning a place in the record bags of top flight artists Above & Beyond, deadmau5, Calvin Harris and Sasha.

‘Sun In Your Eyes’ was originally released on Above & Beyond’s 2011 album ‘Group Therapy’, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. One of Above & Beyond’s most popular instrumental pieces, ‘Sun In Your Eyes’ has had a new lease on life, with Jamie XX and Grimes recently supporting the track. It was remastered for Above & Beyond’s 2019 ambient album ‘Flow State’, which has generated over 135 million streams to date. Spencer’s remix has been a secret weapon in his live shows for years, and is the first remix of the track to be officially released as a single.

Spencer’s second mix album, ‘Stream of Consciousness’, was released on Anjunabeats in January 2020. Last year also saw Spencer team up with ALPHA 9 on ‘Ariel / Afterlife’ and with Anjunadeep’s Ben Böhmer on the ‘Phases EP’.

Acclaimed producer and DJ Oliver Heldens joins the Anjunafamily with a new remix of Above & Beyond’s ’Thing Called Love’ (feat. Richard Bedford), lifted from Above & Beyond’s beloved 2011 studio album ‘Group Therapy’.

With several No. 1 hits and over two billion streams to his name, Oliver Heldens is a true superstar of our scene. Considered the founding father of ‘future house’, his breakout hit ‘Gecko’ featuring Becky Hill lit up the UK Top 40 charts in 2013. It propelled Oliver to festival mainstages across the globe and earned him a prestigious residency slot on BBC Radio 1.

Oliver’s list of collaborators is a ‘who’s who’ of dance - Tiesto, Nile Rodgers, Riton, Sander Van Doorn - and he’s been tapped to remix superstars like Calvin Harris, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Disclosure and The Chainsmokers.
