Making his Glitterbox debut, Space Funk is an alias for one of house music’s most intriguing characters taking time to explore a brand-new disco-leaning sound with this pseudonym. Making an apt follow-up to the stunning disco hit ‘Falling Deep In Love’, ‘Jump Into The Light’ embodies the same uplifting qualities and signature strutting style. Co-produced by Classic Music Company boss Luke Solomon and Chris Penny, with additional music by JKriv, the nightlife champions enlist a gloriously funky bass, rich instrumentation and perfectly timed hooks for a perfect backdrop to Kathy’s unmistakable vocal. With subtle nods to disco greats like CHIC, Horse Meat Disco once again illustrate their impeccable knowledge of dancefloor dynamics. Pioneering Belgium-born DJ Aeroplane also provides a remix on the package. Drawing out Kathy’s sublime vocal, Aeroplane’s remix displays his signature nu-disco sound at its finest, as a bumpy, grooving bassline and playful synths give the track a clubbier feel to the original. This is another red hot delivery from the Horse Meat Disco camp and exciting preview of things to come on the forthcoming LP.

Vince Montana Jr left us on April 13, he was 85 years. 

He spent most of them writing, playing and arranging beautiful music. You can hear playing vibraphone (or vibes for short) on pretty much EVERY recording that came out of Philadelphia's Sigma Sound Studio from the late 60s to the mid 80's.

He was playing the vibes with MFSB, composers Gamble & Huff's studio supergroup, the core of what is known as the Philly Sound. He conducted the same musicians as his own Salsoul Orchestra giving them many classic Disco songs, amongst them the infamous Runaway with Loleatta Holloway on vocals on which you can clearly hear Vince's trademark vibes licks. 

In the 90's newer school House producers got him back in the studio and he arranged strings for Mousse T, DJ Meme and most notably for MAW collaborating on the Braxton's cover of the Boss and remaking his own classic Runaway.  

When I first heard "The Way U Love Me" I immediately asked to remix it and a budget to be able to get Vince to score the strings and vibes in Philadelphia. I was certain the song could be turned into a Philly Sound classic. Despite suffering with major illness at the time Vince enthusiastically accepted and made my dream come true.

The T.S.O.P. version of "The Way U Love Me" is the remix I'm the most proud of. It features a cast of more than 30 people, each one of them putting a part of their soul in the recording.
The mix you can hear on this page is an unreleased instrumental edit where the forefront is taken by the string orchestra and vibraphone solos.

As India was saying in the NuYorican Soul remake of Runaway:
"Vince, play them vibes for us just one more time"

S&S Records, Inc. (and S&S Chicago, Inc.) was established by 4-time GRAMMY® nominated producer and House Music pioneer Steve "Silk" Hurley and global DJ/Producer Shannon "DJ Skip" Syas. Silk and Skip merged Hurley's worldwide commercial success and Syas' strong global following to form S&S Records.



Christopher Williams, a Virginia native, surfaced during the tail-end of the '80s, around the middle of the new jack swing era. His talents were not limited to those of a singer, but also an arranger, producer, and actor.  "Talk to Myself" and "Promises, Promises," a pair of Billboard Top Ten R&B singles made with Timmy Gatling and Alton Wokie Stewart, marked his arrival. Those hits drove parent album Adventures in Paradise (1989), Williams' full-length debut for Geffen, to number 23 on the R&B album chart. 



Williams’ acting career began with New Jack City (1991), for which he was cast as an assistant to Wesley Snipes' lead character. Just as notably, Williams contributed "I'm Dreamin," a number one R&B hit, to the film's certified platinum soundtrack. The singer moved to the Uptown label for Changes (1992), an album that generated another Top Ten R&B hit in "Every Little Thing U Do,”  along with the Devante Swing (Jodeci) produced top-20 classic, “All I See.”



Throughout his career, Christopher has followed in the tradition of robust soul vocalists such as Teddy Pendergrass, Jeffrey Osborne, and James "D Train" Williams.  Ironically, his fondness for “D Train” was also shared by Chicago House Music Pioneer Steve Silk Hurley, Zonum from Spain, and Shannon “DJ Skip “ Syas of  S&S Records. This lead to their creation of this remake of “D Train’s” “You’re The One For Me," featuring the vocals of Christopher and Carolyn Griffey.



Since 2001, Carolyn Griffey has been touring the world as the lead female vocalist of the Soul Funk supergroup, Shalamar featuring  Howard Hewett, Carolyn Griffey, and Jeffrey Daniels.  She is the daughter of Carrie Lucas and Solar Records boss Dick Griffey, who worked with Don Cornelius in the creation and development of the television program, Soul Train.  Carolyn grew up around The Whispers, Shalamar, Midnight Star, Dynasty, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, and James Brown, who all appeared on Soul Train or who were signed to Solar Records.



Carolyn was signed to SOLAR Records as part of the dance-pop duo called ‘Absolute’. This group released one album, “For All Seasons.” Their first single was “Cheap Shot,” while “Gotta Lambada” and “This Moment In Time” both appeared on the movie soundtrack of Lambada.



A collaboration between Christopher Williams, Carolyn Griffey, Steve Silk Hurley, Zonum, and DJ Skip was bound to result in a tune built for the dance floor and the radio waves.  “You’re The One For Me” retains the original soul and musicality of the “D Train” classic, and 40 years later, takes the timeless tune into 2020 with the S&S Original Vibe Mix and the S&S House Anthem Mix, both artfully mixed by 4-Time GRAMMY® Nominee and House Music Pioneer, Steve Silk Hurley.
