It is with undoubted excitement that Stroboscopic Artefacts can present the new release from Irish duo Lakker as SA019. This comes hot on the heels of Lakker's recent work for the label through the dark trappings of Monad XIV.
'Harbour' could imagine a vessel out to sea, battling a tempest. Heavily distorted rhythms build like the swirl of a storm, a distress signal popping on, radio distortion. As implosion seems near a moment of calm sets in and a less maniacal beat assumes control. But the unpredictable hammers resume once more, thumping above a sheet of glinting and sharp precipitation. The storm eventually ceases, abruptly, and the 'Harbour' is left still.
'eeAea' is a different experience. It is based on surer footing, concrete beneath the limbs. A thump, incessant, pounds in the background, giving clarity to a winding sigh and dissonant percussion. Yet there remains melody in the madness, with beautiful hi ends peeking through the atmosphere and a strut which surges towards conclusion.
The conclusion ends (unresolved) at 'Valentina Lane'. It is a street of mystery, set upon a gas of syncopated flashes and airy scrapes. An uncomfortable synthesiser hums in the background, darting high and interjecting low. And it meanders thence, pausing for the odd moment of reflection. It is as deliberate as 'Harbour' is chaotic; it is a tight, cogent finale.

After being around for about 5 years, RVDE has just released their 2nd release on OVERDRAW, with a massive rmx by VSK, who shares the stage several times lately. This record comes after another big one on PLS.UK, who bring them to London's infamous Jaded afterparty regularly and got them 2 reedits by MANNI DEE and UMWELT.
They collected also three features on different 12" V/A (Overdraw, Drec, Mindcut) in the last months and they're ready for a bang of releases in the next year such a new 12" on german label COUNTERWEIGHT (which has invited them to play at their party in Munich recently) that will include two reworks by founder GONZO MDF and INHALT DER NACHT + ECHOES OF OCTOBER, and a couple of V/A on vinyl, both first releases for new labels IRON CURTAIN and ISMUS. Last scheduled project is a rmx for RE_P that will be out in cd on his label ARCHETYPE.
Beginning of 2019 will host RVDE playing in Berlin and Munich, while after playing in venues like TRESOR, KHIDI, parisian biggest rave CONTRAST residency in the last years, the last gig for 2018 will be this weekend in Lyon @ LE TRANSBORDEUR.

Roberto Clementi’s sparkling new EP spans a diversity of styles, all imprinted with his own unique sound. This relative newcomer to Soma has proved a great match for the iconic Glasgow label, producing consistently high-quality tracks. His innovation and vision are clear on this single, which is his second release through Soma.

The EP kicks off with Viper, which ignites the release from the first bar. The imposing bass hints at a darker sound and the thunderous synth creates a powerful sense of atmosphere. A dubby, industrial feel spreads through the track. These undertones are capitalised on with the electrifying break-downs and drops running through, all lifted with the brushed tones of the intricate drum patterns. This is a fantastic start to the EP and a track to get lost in.

Retro Chords is the next track and takes a different direction with an endorphin drenched and upbeat sound. Ecstatic, bright synths and ethereal organs help to build a warm melodic structure to the track and conjure a pleasing sense of nostalgia within this retrospective. Elements of Balearic beats and heady, celebratory times are key to the sound of this stylish track.

Overrule adds another fresh perspective to the release. A staunch powerful rhythm drives this track from the outset and makes an immediate impression. The sounds melt into liquid synths and delicate space and this balance of fluid melody and bold rhythm make this an exciting track.

Mesm completes this expansive album and extends the dub elements. The echoing refrains spiral off and merge with the sweeping backdrop panning and swirling harmoniously. The strong rhythm and melody line provide a powerful anchor to these intricate sounds and during the track energetic, pumping beats heat it up creating a raucous mix. As the track fades out it becomes sparser and darker and flows away intriguingly.

This EP is the perfect expression of Clementi and showcases his talents as a producer, combining great skill with distinctive, fresh ideas to create a striking new sound, which, signals a bright and prolific future with Soma.

Young Belgian producer Locked Groove (aka Tim Van de Meutter) cements an increasingly central role in the Hotflush family fold with the release of the Heritage EP.

Since his debut on the label, Tim has propagated what he himself has termed ‘100% House and Techno,’ combining elements of the big room, the deep and moody and straight up four-to-the-floor both into the space of a single track, and across the length of an EP.

Taking a marked step on from last year’s Rooted and Keep It Simple EPs, Heritage pursues a joining of musical dots between and beyond classic House and Techno; from the Kerri Chandler-esque House of ‘Wear It Well’ through the epic landscaping of ‘Lost’ to 'Dream Within A Dream''s Blade Runner beach party.
