A vivid dawn chorus from the steamy forests of lowland West Papua. While the rainforest is still dark, Hooded Butcherbirds sing melodic fluty phrases to welcome the new day.

Watching the water slowly rise and fall
Sunlight stokes fire and the crests, they start to morph
Twitches and movement; your eyes begin to roll
Freckles, like droplets, they catch their weight and stall

Still, still, breathing in the still

Soft as it moves, slowly warmth creeps in
Touching lightly, as not to rouse the skin
Outlines of memories dancing on lids
Looked over by steeples, they pardon the sin

This is my first song ever that I wrote about 1990, when I was studied at ASTI/STSI/ISBI Bandung. Because there's no technology during that time, I wrote melody and chord by writing on the paper, and remembered the melodies in my head. Now I rearranged this song based on technology that I got now and my musical experience. This is also a final tracks 50th of 50 Compositions & Songs Challenges until my 50th.
