Summer Breaks Vol. II

I made this mix in June of 2020, after finishing collecting the entire Twitch catalog on vinyl. This is a tribute to Jim Hopkins, and one of my all time favorite remix labels: Twich Recordings. Twitch leveled up already amazing tracks with remixes versions that were in many cases superior to the original. Enjoy. Play loud.

TRANSPARENCY / BONESBREAKS

My homage to "Keep Me Hanging On" by The Supremes (Motown). It was the number one song the week I was born.  I also like the cover version by Kim Wilde.  That being said, this is a full on banger.

Not a song or a track, or even a DJ tool.  This is a DJ Weapon, forged in the heat of battle, fists raised asking "Who wants some Knuckles"?  We all know music calms the savage beast and this is the remedy.  You don't need a vaxx card here.  Just a good set of ears.  

No one has to say anything to realize I paid my dues in this culture.  The legendary stats mean absolutely nothing.  No King had died and left me in his place.  No King, No Queen, No Jack.  But I got aces.  Aces Of Spades, Aces Of Clubs what have you.

If there is ever a Masterclass to be shown, it begins today.  I'm not here to stop the New World Order or the elites.  But If you are tracking, I am Jacking.  Jacking world class beats that move some feets.

I have moments.  Some I can't explain and I had this synchronicity before but when it happens there is no way to describe the feeling.  It's not about me and the music anymore, it's somewhere in the cosmo's. 

There could be a billion songs out there, but the day after I created this I am in a local Brooklyn Pizzeria.  I put some garlic on my two slices and the moment my butt sits down, the original Londonbeat track starts on the radio station WCBS-FM.

O.K. so yes it's 30 years old, it's playing on New York Radio in 2021 and I just made it the night before.  So what does it mean?  

Pretty much nothing I suppose.  Or maybe it does?

"Call It Techno" was the blueprint track which was written on June 4, 1989.  It was at the forefront of European Rave Culture and became a well known track in the U.K. & Germany.  The documentary "We Call It Techno" explains it right from the beginning and from that came the second & third Love Parade themes being named "The Future Is Ours" off the XL/Citibeat LP by Musto & Bones.  And "My House Is Your House" from the Break Boys which was Frankie Bones aka on Fourth Floor Records in 1990.

Frankie became the American Pioneer of Rave Culture on both coasts in 1990, playing Techno as a movement.  The Peace, Love, Unity Movement which in 1993 became PLUR after a fight broke out at an event in The Bronx which had Richie Hawtin as it's headliner.

And the rest is history.  If words can paint the picture here, the first 5 Soundcloud links will describe a DJ who has a journey of a lifetime & still is active in 2024.  The music that comes from the heart & soul of the Brooklyn Underground.
