Here we go again,

ESOA Podcast number 65 this week. 
It's time for some breaks. After the last Shows with many House and Techno, I think we need more Breakbeats, here is it and my Guest this week Is a Special i think, Bassface Sasha!
For me definitifly and for the German Drum'n Bass Szene absolutly is this man, a Pioneer.
He started out in the 80s in the techno scene that was breaking through at the time. Under names like Absurd, Hypnopedia, New Scene, Duce and Fazer, he was actively involved in techno and acid.
In 91, he and his partner Holger Klein from the Mannheim club Milk helped to spread Jungle and Drum'n Bass. That was the spark that started him on his way to becoming, in my opinion, the leading Drum'n Bass and Jungle DJ in this country.
A year later in 92, he played the first Jungle set at Mayday. This was followed by a residency at Frankfurt's XS Club and from then on numerous appearances at very well-known major events such as One Nation, Kings of the Jungle, Meditation or the Love Parade.
Other notable building blocks of his musical career are his show Reload on Evosonic, Outbreak on HR XXL or Clubnight on You FM. He also made several guest appearances on MTV and VIVA.
As early as 94, he founded his own label Smoking Drum Recordings where he mainly presented German newcomers and was awarded the title of best German drum'n bass label in 1997 after only 20 releases. He himself received the award for best national producer and DJ. In 2006, '07 and '08, he continued to hold his own as best German DJ at the Future Music Awards.
Here are a few words about his own releases his first LP Different Faces released in 99 on Mole Listening Pearls, Machine Vs. Smokin' Drum - Round One with the Perfect Day remix and his, as he himself says, biggest success Track International Sound on the English label Stereotype in 2008.
That's another long intro, but clearly with a lot of history for a milestone, if you will. That's why I'm all the more pleased to be able to present it here in my small and fine show.

Factory 2018 - A series of DJ Mixes which began on July 4, 1992 in the abandoned warehouses on the Brooklyn waterfront.  The legendary girl with the halo & the gun became the iconic branding of the series.  She came to dance.  The gun was only there to protect the dancers.  26 years later nobody got shot.  Breaking into abandoned warehouses to dance past sunrise took on a new style of Electronic Music.  Techno was the root. but Trance, Hardcore, Breaks & House  all represented.  We wind up here in 2018.  With Techno as it is meant to be.

It is either a blessing or a lesson.  We do come in Peace.  With a message of Love.  We need Unity.  And less Disrespect.  I really spend a lot of time trying to reinvent myself.  The loss of friends & family took a major toll on everybody in 2020.  I want to wish everyone a happy New Year in 2021.  The Coronavirus Pandemic made a lot of people's bullsh1t come to the surface.  

I believe 80's music can save the planet.  But I'm not getting on a retro kick.  I actually begin with a 1970's soul classic which I upgraded to 1984 status so kids could breakdance to it.  And so older folks can listen and like what they hear.  To some that want the standard Techno business, it's in here but it doesn't just start from GO.  The PLUR tapes goes through a series of styles which includes actual songs, with stories, peaks and valley's.

I like to tell stories through my music.  Build it like a foundation up.   Be unique.  Have a signature style and then go listen to a dozen legends, pick the 12 most famous American DJ's from the 1990's.  The ones that have bigger fan bases then me and can play their music, their way.   You will have fun.  I love these guys.  Then come back and tell me what I do which makes me a worthy choice.

I don't push PLUR because it was cool decades ago.  I push PLUR to keep me in check when somebody needs a can of Twisted Tea straight to the face.  I have to bow out gracefully and not entertain any type of hate.  Don't scream that horrible word out to me, my Nickel.  "Nickel"?  Yes.  You put your two cents in with a dime in your pocket.  I'm tryna make a dollar out of 41 cents and still give you back your change, my nickel.   Yes.  It's my nickel.  It's silver and you get back three pennies with that. Whatever you are thinking otherwise is on you. 

There is more to this story but lemme get back to you O.K.
